Mal: Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us? Zoe: Big damn heroes, sir.

Oh for sure—my insurance stopped covering the 450mg tablet, but will cover getting the 300 and 150mg tablets. But I have to pay double. It’s dumb.

Happy birthday, Tom!

Insurance is absolutely bizarre. Telehealth makes sense to me; it's nice to see a doctor without having to sit a waiting room of other sick people.

We just got our first set of Olympic tickets. I had grand plans for women's gymnastics (all tix from this round currently sold out), rugby (cheapest ticket is currently $400), Diving (ditto on expense). Couldn't find anything less than $200 for climbing, rhythmic gymnastics, swimming. I love the olympics and will be happy to see most anything, so I got us cheapish tickets to see the women's handball final, women's water polo quarter finals and preliminary artistic swimming. Handball is currently my outlier but it will be fun to see something where medals are awarded at the end. All told, 12 tickets for about $500. Grace has a ticket slot open on Sunday, so we will see what's available then.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Happy Tom Day!

That's so cool, kat.

Cigna is still covering our telehealth for now, praise be. I just had to drive my butt to an actual doctor--but it was for an annual skin check, so I guess that's fair. My skin passed, yay.

I'm having fun following along with the Artemis mission through the NASA app. I gave it permission to update my home screen with a latest picture once a day. It's the most recent Earth shot right now. Love it.

Then I read about their food options and also their daily agendas. Neato.

Thrive to spite them

Happy Tom Day!

I think Blue Cross Blue Shield is still covering telehealth on my plan. Thankfully.

That sounds fun Kat! There’s been a cute bunch of stuff on TikTok about people trying out for the US women’s handball team—normally we wouldn’t have one in the games but because of host nation we get to try. But dang that stuff is expensive. (One reason I’m selfishly glad women’s sports aren’t more popular…I couldn’t easily afford things like the World Cup if it was men’s pricing!)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Tom day!

This week has been another shitshow at home. Mr. S had aggressive meltdowns several days this week, including Wed night when we were supposed to have the seder.(We hosted, my MIL did all the cooking) We just ended up saying a few blessings and Gary did MaNishtana, then we ate. Right now he's with the nanny for logistic reasons. I just don't know what to do. It seems like the smallest things set him off, including me saying anything.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

So, I have to have an MRI because something went wonky in my fucking neck when I was at the dentist — for real, the dentist leaned the chair back, and when the chair got to a certain angle, electric hot knife-y pain shot down both arms, and now I have ongoing electric burning nerve pain from my elbows to my hands, including the pinky, ring finger, and middle finger. I didn’t even do anything to cause this, damn it. I just leaned back in the dentist chair.

But it’s been several weeks and isn’t improving, so I saw Awesome Doctor today, and he was like, yep, that’s your neck, and you need an MRI so we know how to treat it. In the interim I have oral steroids, and I hope they help, because this burning nerve pain sucks. And long-term, I hope this can be fixed with PT and/or a steroid injection, because I really don’t want surgery on my cervical spine. (According to Google, 90% of cases are improve with non-surgical treatments. So the odds are good.)

That sounds bad, Tep. I’m glad you have awesome doctor

I don’t know what to say, Sheryl. I’m sorry it’s so hard. I think about you guys a lot.
