I read this article from The Atlantic this morning [link]
The Incredible Story of the Cartel Olympics. The journalist was contacted by a film maker he knew about vetting this story of a former Olympic runner who had contacted pitched the story of when he was kidnapped by a cartel and forced to compete in athletic events.
I read it this morning free bit it's under a paywall so I'm not sure how that happened.
It is a really interesting going between what happened to the man and the journalist working to vet his story and if it really happened. Spoiler...it didn't but it seemed to me pretty clear that was where it was heading but the whole thing is fascinating.
I enjoyed it well enough, but best picture? I dunno.
I can't remember the specific films but I vaguely remember there were a lot of really polarizing nominees that year, and Coda was the one movie on the list everyone could agree was pretty good.
That article from Blair Braverman is the best thing I think she's ever written. I'm amazed NYT ran it.

So good. Should get a Pulitzer.

It's so beautiful and poignant, isn't it? I texted it to sarameg this morning because it immediately reminded me of her.

Oh, that Blair Braverman piece. Wow.
Heat wave kind of getting me down, though Mom is out in it more than I.
I wish I hadn't missed "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" when it was on, but I'm sorry that my stream is over, too.
Oh thank goodness it looks like the heat wave here is about to break: only in the 70s over the weekend.
