“vibe coding”
Makes actual testing, at all levels, even more important -- but it's hard to get management to budget for or spend the additional resources, because testing isn't sexy.
Failures and rollback/reversions are embarrassing and expensive, though.
Peeps, my diamond slippers are too tight! My brilliant plan was to go down to the whirlpool and enjoy the hot bubbly water with the outside temperature at 51°F, which almost never happens here. I did at least bring my warm clothes in a bag to change into in the pool-area bathrooms after the spa. Walked in up to my butt, and it was not happening. When I checked the heater gauges, which I should have done first, it was set to 104°, but the current temp was 90°. That will not work at all. Quickly changed and went back upstairs. So that was disappointing. My life is hard.
Oof. Our senior leadership is enthusiastic about AI but that hasn’t affected me in a practical way, yet. I use Zoom’s AI summaries of meetings as the basis for my recaps, but that’s it. And I still take my handwritten notes. I’m sure eventually there will be more specific directives about it, though.
with the owner tagging along
Is it just me, or does this kinda take the shine off?
msbelle, I hope your mom is feeling better.
Would definitely feel weird with the owner of my company…
You're gonna avocado!
I am.
I went out and broke up and threw chunks of ice. If my physical body is exhausted my brain has fewer weasels.
100% approve of self-care no matter the method.
a four day trip to wherever in the continental US the winner wants to go, all expenses paid, with the owner tagging along.
The company I work at is owned by one of my cousins, with whom I spend lots of time outside work on various holidays, and even I'd be weirded out by that.
Timelies all!
Yesterday was another disaster. Mr. S slipped on icy ground and hurt his arm. Gary took him to urgent care, where they x-rayed the arm and found no broken bones, He was given a sling and went home. After dinner he was complaining about the arm, and got disregulated when we wouldn't call PM Pediatrics about it. He called 911, and got physically aggressive with the responders, so off to the ER he went, with me following behind. His arm was examined, and they found bruising but nothing else. He then had another meltdown which resulted in him being sedated. I ended up staying there all night without getting much sleep. We got back to the house around 8:30 am.
On the bright side, I had my stress test on Friday and everything looked fine.
My company also wants us to use AI but I really don’t trust it.
msbelle glad your mom's tests came back clear
We have an AI chat bot to find things or ask questions. It used to be called Ask Sam but they changed it to Sidekick (but there was something else called sidekick that they either got rid of or renamed) but I think it was more than just renaming it because the algorithm has had more issues. Before you could just type in "soy sauce" and it would bring up everything we had. And the only issue was using the word stock because it would try to bring up stock market results. Now I often have to type in "where is soy sauce" or "do we carry soy sauce" because if you don't phrase it like a question for some things side kick won't bring back results. And sometimes even phrasing it as question gets no results.
Laura it really sucks what people are going through and parents being afraid to send their kids to school. I worry about my customers and also my coworkers. And locally police have said they will help ICE so you can't even hope they will protect the community.
