The university finally announced they're closed tomorrow, after the county closed the roads to all non-emergency traffic.

We have bupkiss in the way of falling weather.
I woke up with body aches and a raging sore throat. Tylenol, hot tea, a blankee and a nap, toast and scrambled eggs and another nap, and I felt a lot better. I had yet another nap with another dose of Tylenol and I'm having naked toast and scrambled eggs again. By morning I should be all better.
Those of you upon whom weather is falling and freezing, be careful and may your heat, phones, power and so on be strong and steady.

I have no excuse for being as lazy as I have been all weekend except that I am, as always, tired. I did do a few things though - made an appointment to give blood on Friday, bought a copy of 1984 (2, actually, digital and audio so I can really concentrate) to read for a book club meeting at the the bookstore near work that I have been so unsuccessful at just dropping into (conveniently scheduled for a day I am in the office and late enough for me to get dinner in between), and started on the March 2025 issue of Ellery Queen, which is measurable if small progress on the great magazine backlog.
Hang in there, guys. Here in S Texas the freezing rain has cleared out but we're going to be down in the teens overnight for days.
Final snow total according to official measurements is 15". We decided to hire a snow removal guy to take care of the sidewalk for us, fingers crossed he does a decent job because the last thing I need is to be ticketed by the village.
A couple of sidewalks weren’t cleared over my 1½ block walk to the subway this morning. That was rough! However, everything was cleared and salted when I emerged from the subway right in front of my work building.
It’s a good thing I have the option of taking the subway instead of walking the full five blocks to work.
The final accumulation in my front yard looks to be around 7-8 inches. A crust formed on the surface, which makes for excellent birdseed dispersal and a lot of extra engagement for my cats.
We got about 5" with a crust of sleet/ice. So far, I have shoveled the walk completely. The sidewalk is next and will need to be done in segments. I don't actually care about the driveway today -- I gave it one pass yesterday, so I hope it'll be doable tomorrow, but I have my shoveling limits. And DH will share the load.
Well, my cousin in Minneapolis has convinced his Chinese mom to keep her U.S. passport on her.
This is just dizzying.
I am now on my second round of antibiotics for the combination bronchitis and sinus infection. I would like to be done with all of this, especially since I've reached that point in recovery where I think I can be productive and then fall over on the couch after doing two things.
While I'm happy for the local football fans that the Seahawks are going to the Superbowl, I hate the fireworks. And apparently they caused two housefires in our area, which is horrible.
I've had to switch my work computer from Apple to a Windows machine, and all of my peripherals are fighting me.
