I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I started my taxes, although I am not willing to dig up my mortgage info right now so that’s on pause, and I looked up the training I was thinking of doing tomorrow that is actually in a couple of weeks. So I have not actually *done* anything but I feel vaguely accomplished.

Yesterday, my mom had some fresh cilantro she wanted to use but she couldn’t find any of the recipes she remembered not having the cilantro they called for. We did eventually find one for a sweet potato and black bean chili that required hardly any substitutions and did include cilantro. It was really good, especially with the buttered cornbread we also threw together.

B.org is, of course, where I feel any chili or cilantro news might be appreciated.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

That sounds really good!

It's snowing very lightly (started within the last hour), so I opted to DoorDash Indian food from the place that's just 2 miles away. I wouldn't have ordered if it were snowing hard, or if there was any accumulation, but it's pretty decent right now, and matar paneer just sounded so good. [edit] And I tipped extra well because of the weather.

That sounds like a win for everyone involved

Oh honey, the mentally unwell people have been in the fanbase since Game Changers was Stucky fanfiction on the internet. The calls have been coming from inside the house the whole time!

I ran out to the nearest grocery store to get some non-essentials this afternoon, and the only trouble I had was getting up the incline of my driveway and into the carport. I suppose I could shovel that tomorrow, but I'm more inclined to leave it until the air temperature/sunlight melts a driveable path.

Thrive to spite them

I don't think it's really raining or sleeting here. It's supposed to be all freezing rain but it was forecast to start around 7. A lot of 2nd shift left by then. The manager had 3rd shift come in at 8 and the were going to work until 2 if possible. I'm pretty sure that's an indication that the store will be closed tomorrow.

Unless nothing happens. But almost everyone was saying they weren't going to attempt to go in if it's icy we will see.

If this doesn't turn out that bad then I think the local Chief Meteorologist's reputation will take a big hit. He has been posting nonstop on FB about it and how bad it will be. And he already has a reputation for overblowing things.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Supposed to start here in Connecticut tomorrow afternoon. Projected 12-18 inches. I will be cozy in my apartment tomorrow making some sort of chowder.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Did you show him the toss-boiling-water-into-the-air-to-make-snow trick?

No, I didn’t think of it, unfortunately. But it’s Michigan, so we’ll have opportunities in the future.

I hope everyone dealing with unusually wintery winter is staying warm and safe.

It's snowing, and sort of turning to sleet now. DH shoveled the walk and sidewalk in front of the house, and I did the driveway to at least get one layer done. Even though the icy layer is a pain no matter what, at least there won't be six inches of snow under it, or something.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Lots of snow here! Weather app says there is also "freezing fog" which sounds like an excellent reason to stay inside and maybe bake a giant cookie in a cast iron skillet to keep the house warm.

Thrive to spite them

We have ice. Looks like snow on the ground but it's just ice. I've seen ice coating the peach tree in the back and it's freezing rain right now so we could still lose power.

A lot of places have lost power up in Transylvania county where Mom is but she is ok

The store is closed ! This means we get hazard pay (well anyone who was scheduled).

One of my coworkers lives within walking distance and he walked to the convenience store that is next to the store and they were open. I hope they can get home ok.

Scrappy has been yowling to get out and when I let him he dashed out until he hit the steps of the porch (it's covered). Took one step and turned right around. I have my own Littlest Nope paw print picture now . And when I opened the door when he was next to it a few minutes ago he ran away as fast as he could.

Mongo wasn't a fan either. He crunched through the ice were it was on some leaves. Then ran under the aide porch. Luckily when I opened the door he ran back inside. And then I almost wiped out when I stepped inside because I had on sneakers and the bottoms were coated in ice

I'll try to find my winter boots and maybe see if I can make over to main street (we live behind main street) and see what it is like
