Well, personally, I kind of want to slay the dragon.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

In my experience, orthopedist is Latin for dickhead. Which I thought I got because I come in with insoluble problems, but maybe they're just always pricks.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

That's pretty damn accurate. I was genuinely surprised my ortho didn't say "bro" in the 2 minutes we spent together.

Man, I am so steamed about how condescending he was. My primary care physician (Dr. Awesome) has really ruined me for all other doctors. Although the ortho doc who did my carpal tunnel surgeries last year was pretty awesome. Maybe only the orthos who work on smaller body parts are the cool orthos.

Yay shrift!

Yay Matt’s mom!

Those ortho dudes generally are like that, but I am surprised that he wasn’t also a surgeon. Usually they are surgery, surgery, surgery. With certain specialties I feel like the PAs and NPs are doing so much emotional lifting for the surgeon (source, I have worked for 20 years helping NPs to assist surgeons). Sometimes the stereotypes are real. My favorites are the two trauma surgeons who are our professors though. They are very kind and weird and they love teaching. One of them got all irritated because MDs get different badge holders from other folks in the ER, so he wears the badge holder for the folks who clean out the rooms.

We are getting ready to open courses and I have now been doing this so long, I just am so irritated by the same problems/mistakes every semester. I am the fixer, but I am getting toward the point where I want people to respond to my requests/offers to help rather than trying to do it, not doing it right, and then panicking this week. Instructional Design in higher Ed is an awkward position. It is worse at my specific school, because my boss expect me to project manage the professors rather than just being available by request. So it is on me when courses aren’t open to students Tuesday. Despite no one responding to my requests to work on the courses. Now everyone is ready and I do not have the capacity to build 40 Blackboard courses between now and Tuesday .

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

What a day. Layoffs at work, my uncle called me out of the blue this morning, I can’t remember the last time I talked to him, said he wanted to reconnect. So I called him back after work and he rambled at me, I think he was just at a loose end because my aunt and cousin were out of town. Then got a text from my one coworker who left last year because he heard about the layoffs, (he’s been laid off from the job he left to start, but he just recently got a new job offer, so things are looking up for him) and while we were chatting my uncle called me back and left a message like he forgot we talked. Very weird.

I’ll be at my parents’ tomorrow, not gonna do anything about it until then, but kind of worried

Also now wondering if the people who left last week had super secret early retirement offers

I am surprised that he wasn’t also a surgeon

He is a surgeon who does minimally invasive repair, like to the torn cartilage in my hip (which is why I picked him). He just doesn't do full hip replacements, which is fine — everyone has a specialty — and I would have been okay with our interaction if he didn't answer my following questions by barking "Arthritis!"

Seems weird that he didn’t show you the MRI or talk about it at all, too. Why bother to do it?

Now listening to the Midnight Burger live drop. Not concentrating enough to really follow what’s happening but it’s pleasant to have on

Different kind of Jackhole than I was originally picturing! Still, this sounds very frustrating
