In the latest of many minor annoyances in settling my brother's affairs, my nephew unilaterally decided to wipe out my brother's laptop. I had been accessing it remotely, answering emails and taking care of things. Besides all the things in progress now, I won't get the end-of-year correspondence that we need to do his final tax return. I wrote to Gmail support and sent the death certificate and stuff to see if I can get access to that at least. The password for his email doesn't work, and recovery is on his cell phone, which was turned off months ago. Also, on the second affidavit to get the deed switched over to me on the house, this one a 'one and the same person' to explain that first-name middle-name maiden-name last-name is the same person as first-initial middle-name last-name. Yes, this too shall pass. But I am beyond furious with my nephew.
Ugh, that sucks Laura.
I come to the board with news that has boosted my spirits considerably today: my Mom's 3-month cancer screening this morning passed as clear with no detectable cancer! While I don't hold out much hope that it's a permanent remission given her past history, treatment has at least erased any foothold the cancer had gained in recent months and put it back on a must-regrow-from-individual-cells status.
That is indeed good news, Matt!
Yay, Matt!
Boo, nephew of Laura. Unhelpful.
Today's NYT crossword is pretty clever, in case anyone occasionally partakes (especially Dana, but I think there are others who would appreciate it)
It's the second day of our county workers strike - I happened to see some people getting ready to picket when I stopped for coffee near the courthouse in Vallejo yesterday, otherwise I don't know that I'd have known. I think there might be a fairly large presence over here in Fairfield today, but I have no reason to be in that neighborhood (or leave the house and my reluctance to get dressed today is HIGH). I'm curious how it's going, though. All the news I can find is from yesterday and is mostly about what offices will be closed or have limited services available
That’s great Matt!!
I am really not wanting to do work today. I have done a little. But not much.
Well, fuck. Another major re-org! One loss to my department and it's not me. We'll find out the impact to the rest of the company maybe next week. Sigh.
Department is 13 people now (including the two people who just started this month), five of those are managers, four of the managers are men and three of them are white men. This is a big shift from 2020 when the department was twice as big and the number of white men was about the same but none of them were managers
Desire to actually do work today has plummeted. I was going to save my Thanksgiving pie for tomorrow, but it's in the oven now. I don't think that one will go all souffle on me, but who knows?

Re-re-re-re-org is not happy making, -t.
Today is the heavy muscles, just want to sleep or be horizontal, tiny little dog walk was exhausting portion of this ick. Maybe flu. I will test for Covid tomorrow, but mainly just out of curiosity. I am currently hoping that the sore throat and congestion don't really develop any more than they have. That would be awesome.
Where does one get a souffle like bacon and egg pie? That sounds amazing even with no appetite.
