Xander: I still don't get why we came here to get info about a killer snot monster. Giles: Because it's a killer snot monster from outer space. I did not say that.

Punishingly Intricate

My neighborhood had a fair bit of fireworks as well. Happy new year, everyone!

Happy New Year, East and Central US folks!

Happy new year! We had two three year olds at our party, so at like 7:45 we cued up some random ball drop from like 2014 and counted down and said happy new year and cheers…and the kids wanted to do it again. So we rewound and did it like three or four times. More the merrier! And I drove home through crazy thick fog and was home by 11, which is late for me, and now I am going to bed. Though I expect there will be fireworks keeping me awake (and sadly keeping my dog on edge) for a while yet.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy Noodle Year!

It's the year of the noodle and I think you all know how to celebrate.

Chow Fun, egg noodles, rigatoni, radiatore (you know - ones that look like radiators), mac and cheese, Pad Thai! Whatever noodles you want.

If you're lactose intolerant and can't have Mac and Cheese, you can have Mac and Brains. Very popular among the undead.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I am making some immi brand ramen. Low carb, high protein, high fiber. Easy to prepare.

Plus fixin's.

Hey, just a reminder to anyone planning on going to the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament in April (Fri. 4/10-Sun. 4/12)... past attendees can register starting today, and first-timers can register beginning Jan. 8th.

I registered for Sat./Sun. and plan to stay at the hotel Friday and Saturday nights. So, I'll be there Friday night, but I won't be doing the reception or puzzles-for-fun that night. I hope what I'm doing Friday night is having dinner with some of you people!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I will be starting the new year sitting in the new banker's chair my loved ones joined forces to buy me for Christmas. I assembled it yesterday, and am now getting used to sitting on a stable surface at the proper height again. No groans of effort required when getting up to a standing position!

Nice! Enjoy it in good health.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy New Year!

I'm not sure why it took me a week to get back here. It's not like I was out of town or anything.

Work has been stressful this week. Two people in the lab were out Monday. One came back Tuesday and Wednesday, but only because a third person was out those days. We were very busy Monday and Tuesday, not so much yesterday.(Also, I got to leave 3 hours early.)
