Sending birthday wishes to Emily and Quester today. We haven't seen them around these parts in some time, but I hope they feel the well wishes headed their way.
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
It's also Brendon's 61st birthday today. He has a day of work ahead of him, but this is his own doing, so not much I can do about it.
Happy birthdays to all of the post-Christmas Buffista babies!
Ugh. My father seems to be rapidly declining and is not completely lucid, and unable to get up to use the bathroom now…but is lucid enough that when EMTs came he answered their questions and refused to go to the hospital. My poor sister is at her wits end (like yes, he’s been dying for years, but is this a stupid UTI and he’s just being stubborn and has decided it’s his time??)
Oh, man, meara, how very difficult!
Thanks, Laura. It's very strange to be 70.
Ugh, meara. No fun. Frequent UTIs are a big issue with the elderly. It seems they never get rid of it completely. And it causes problems beyond the incontinence.
Happy birthday, quester!!!
Happy birthday, quester! I can well imagine it does feel strange, but I am very glad to get the actual report!
Happy birthday, quester!
I’m sorry, meara. It’s a hard thing to watch. I hope your sister can get your dad to get some sort of medical attention.
Things have been very family focused for me over the past several days. The WI branch of the family came to stay at my sister’s on Christmas, and on Saturday we went to the Henry Ford museum (with an unexpected social justice section). We had an ice storm Friday night, so I lost power in my apartment and ended up joining everyone at my sister’s for longer than expected, staying the night on my sister’s sofa with my cat locked in the laundry room so we could stay warm. I love them all, but at several points there were four children under 7 gathered together, and that meant a lot of noise chaos. Power has now been restored, and I’m enjoying a nice, quiet evening in my living room.
