"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I want her and Bill smirking at each other from opposite sides of the Bible during the Oath of Office. And the Chief Justice dying of outrage.

I want her and Bill in 42 and 45 hats, like the Bushes did.

I think Hilary's got enough dirt on people to make enough of them behave to break some of the stranglehold. And unfortunately, a white president will deflate some of the buffoons. Still, a Jewish Socialist Democrat vs. a female Clinton. Apoplexy in the idiot circles.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

No matter if it's Sanders or Clinton, the GOP will be just as obstructionist as they have been for the last 8 years. Unless there's some way to break the coalition, by (say) appealing to the actual working class whites who have been left behind by globalization.

But working class white resentment is only half economics: it's also race-based, and I don't know whether a new New Deal would be enough to shift their tribalism.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

You are so right, Consuela

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

As a purely cool thing, it would be wild to have Hillary as president and Bill, a former president himself, as her first man. First gentleman? What's the equivalent of lady?

The Tramp?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'll definitely vote for whichever Dem gets the nomination in November. But I went out the first early voting day and voted for Bernie. I saw what NAFTA and similar did to my two home states, and I think the TPP will be that on steroids. I have no faith that H. Clinton will veto it should it get to her desk. I like Bernie's environmental record better, and I appreciate him saying that a vote for war needs to damn well include proper veterans' health funding. And he's repeatedly come down on the side of teachers unions (among others), unions which helped ensure that my parents didn't have to live on my sofa after they retired. Basically, he's ideologically almost everything I want in a leader. And if the Republicans are gonna obstruct (and they will, regardless), I say let's give them something worth obstructing. Bernice's been in the political trenches quite a while. I think he has as good a chance of making things work as Clinton.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Same.

So on the down side, it's raining again. On the upside, it has washed away the birdshit on my office window! So that's nice.

Because books.

It's all gray drizzle here, too. Blech.

In other random news of my morning, I did not realize (or had forgotten) the head of the EPA is from Boston! Until I heard her on NPR this morning, and she has the best accent. Also her name is Gina McCarthy, which is a totally classic Boston name, because everyone here is Irish and/or Italian.
