I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'll definitely vote for whichever Dem gets the nomination in November. But I went out the first early voting day and voted for Bernie. I saw what NAFTA and similar did to my two home states, and I think the TPP will be that on steroids. I have no faith that H. Clinton will veto it should it get to her desk. I like Bernie's environmental record better, and I appreciate him saying that a vote for war needs to damn well include proper veterans' health funding. And he's repeatedly come down on the side of teachers unions (among others), unions which helped ensure that my parents didn't have to live on my sofa after they retired. Basically, he's ideologically almost everything I want in a leader. And if the Republicans are gonna obstruct (and they will, regardless), I say let's give them something worth obstructing. Bernice's been in the political trenches quite a while. I think he has as good a chance of making things work as Clinton.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Same.

So on the down side, it's raining again. On the upside, it has washed away the birdshit on my office window! So that's nice.

It's all gray drizzle here, too. Blech.

In other random news of my morning, I did not realize (or had forgotten) the head of the EPA is from Boston! Until I heard her on NPR this morning, and she has the best accent. Also her name is Gina McCarthy, which is a totally classic Boston name, because everyone here is Irish and/or Italian.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

What's interesting to me (though, as always, the plural of anecdote is not data) is I have a number of friends and family members who typically vote Republican who are backing Bernie this time around (and not in a "He'll be easier to beat by our guy" way). I've also got a few who are probably staying home on Election Day because they don't like any of the GOP offerings, but could never bring themselves to vote for a Democrat.

On the other hand, I've got one uncle who is hardcore for Trump, so you can't win them all.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Huh. I guess I have a Boston name, too

I think it only fully becomes a Boston name when you say "McCaahhhhthy."
