I figure every politician (every public figure, really) has their share of crazies that get drawn to them. I try to base my votes on the person themselves, not who does or doesn't support them.

That being said, the most hardcore Bernie supporter I know is my youngest cousin. She's half my age, a passionate feminist and wants Sanders to win so badly she's currently living and dying by the caucus results. Her conviction is what's inspiring me to actually vote in a primary for the first time ever this year.

I do worry that if Sanders wins the Presidency, he'll have to deal with even worse obstruction than Obama's faced the last 8 years and I also don't agree with everything he wants to do. On the other hand, he's probably the most earnest person to run for the office since I've been able to vote and has been in the trenches, fighting the good fight, for decades. I can't in good conscience ignore that.

I think Hillary is a skilled politician, and she'd probably get a lot stuff done as president. I also think she did a very admirable job as Secretary of State. But I also think she's too deeply involved with those who have fucked things up in this country, and a little too willing to change her views based on how the wind is blowing. Which worries me about how many of the things she gets done will actually be things we want done.

However, if it's Hillary on the ballot this November instead of Sanders, I'll readily vote for her before any of the clown show the GOP is putting up this year.

I'll also be enthusiastically placing my vote to get Russ Feingold back in the Senate and send that asshat Ron Johnson packing.

No matter what else anyone says about her, she's learned how to play the game really well. Also what you said about her getting stuff done.

I will say, in addition to the Regan thing, I was a little perturbed at her "Where was Sanders when I was fighting for healthcare in the 90s?" when the truth was he was right there along with her.

I don't know. At some point it's got to stop working for them (I hope). They already created the beast that is Trump with their constant stoking of fear and anger among their voter base. They're either going to lose their party to him and his ilk, cause the Trumpites and Tea Partiers to break off into their own faction, or learn their lesson and actually try govern in good faith rather than demonizing anyone who disagrees with them.

Hopefully they'll realize option three is their best choice.

I just finished my candidate research (3 pages of judges!) and am ready to cast my ballot in the morning. I had the tv on for the evening news and omg the ads. I think every single ad was political.

I want her and Bill smirking at each other from opposite sides of the Bible during the Oath of Office. And the Chief Justice dying of outrage.

I think Hilary's got enough dirt on people to make enough of them behave to break some of the stranglehold. And unfortunately, a white president will deflate some of the buffoons. Still, a Jewish Socialist Democrat vs. a female Clinton. Apoplexy in the idiot circles.

No matter if it's Sanders or Clinton, the GOP will be just as obstructionist as they have been for the last 8 years. Unless there's some way to break the coalition, by (say) appealing to the actual working class whites who have been left behind by globalization.

But working class white resentment is only half economics: it's also race-based, and I don't know whether a new New Deal would be enough to shift their tribalism.
