sj, I pumped for ages. Happy to help if I can. It can take some time getting the knack of it and it is MUCH easier for some people than others. Are you using a hand pump, or electric? I found the key for me was to get let-down, which I found needed some mental effort as well as the physical.

Our wings are not tired.

Anyone here willing to talk to me about pumping breast milk either here or back channel? I just attempted to pump for the first time and it was an epic fail.

So long ago, but I didn't have a whole lot of luck with pumping. The most luck I had was having an awkward method of collecting on one side while nursing on the other since I leaked like mad on the other breast.

Watching football of course. The guys are amused as I applaud good stuff on both sides and am disappointed with the missed on both sides. Have reasons to like both sides and no real preference. Except for Beyoncé and Bruno. That I am really looking forward to. Also, Gaga was great. Nice pipes, Lady.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

sj, I'd also be happy to talk with you about pumping. I've been pumping since day 1, and I'm just now getting into the swing of it.

Um, did you guys watching the Super Bowl elsewhere see an ad for Michael & sons featuring Mike Tyson? Or was it just local (it's a local plumbing/hvac company.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I just attempted 20 minutes on each breast with an electric pump and only achieved a couple teaspoons.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I did not, sarameg. I I have not been paying that close attention but I think I probably would have noticed Mike Tyson.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I pumped for 6+ months and started the day after the kids were born. I'm not sure my experience is helpful though.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Um, did you guys watching the Super Bowl elsewhere see an ad for Michael & sons featuring Mike Tyson?

Did not see that. Didn't see the Scientology ad, either. It was pretty wacky.

I love that we're talking about pumping during the super bowl (which I am watching.) What worked for me - using an electric pump at work - was to get the pump started, and close my eyes and imagine the baby was actually nursing, and I would get letdown within a couple of minutes, and be done in about 15. I always had a really strong letdown, though. It helps to practice when you really need to nurse.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

sj, although actual breastfeeding was easy, pumping was very difficult and time-consuming for me. Using, in fact, the same exact pump as flea.

It didn't help that I didn't have a new mother's room available when I went back to work, but even when I was pumping at home, it took me about 45 minutes to get much of anything.
