Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I can totally understand that. I feel like I have to say something or just explode, even though I know I'm preaching to the choir and a few disagreeing family members.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Well, I took my car to get the tire fixed, and they said that the brakes were totally worn down and needed to be replaced, so I got that done, too. Plus they replaced the air filter. So I am now almost $500 poorer, but with a car that won't kill me or anyone else, so I guess that's a good thing.

One more day of classes this semester.

I could take the rest of the year off (except for that pesky STDis) and not even make a dent in my sick leave balance.

There's just so much going on. I have to wait to hear what mgmt says. It was encouraging that it was my boss who broached approaching her bosses before I even had a chance. I got as far as ' I want out from under this contract, there's no future in it but I'd like to keep doing this job' when she interrupted to put forth she can't make any guarantees but if I was amenable, she'd approach C&A,div& mission? She also gave me a lot more scuttlebutt on things afoot with our new HR guy, directorate , etc 'but we've been saying for the past couple years we'd make it better for you guys and haven't, so I do not blame you for not trusting to wait on May's negotiations.' Her doing this for me could get uncomfortable all around if it starts a stampede where some are denied later because budget or whatever.

This is why I want to keep this job. The people who do work with me value me and will try to fight for me, even if it could be problematic later.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Got LDBd half an hour ago. Was bound to happen with the XMas music on in the store, I suppose.

Another hour or so of bagging...

Jesus. A good friend of a college buddy lost her husband in the San Bernadino shootings.

Our wings are not tired.

My extended family all live in the Inland Empire, including my cousin Rachel who comes up this time every year to, among other things, see the current Hunger Games movie. I was supposed to pick her up at 1:30 today at Oakland airport.

Only she cancelled. Three of the members of her brother's church were killed (this is the church our grandfather founded) and she's got funerals/memorials to plan.

The fact that this happened in San Bernardino is especially worrying to me becaus that area is poor and a hotbed of evangelism; a massacre committed by a Muslim is only going to confirm so much bias and bigotry that already exists. It's terrible all around.

I am typing on my iPhone which sucks, but holy shit Amyth, sarameg, and Brenda!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Oh, sarameg, I'm so sorry for your friend.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man.
