brillig

New oxygen sensors cost about $250 dollars to confirm and put in. I really don't mind the $90 diagnostic charge, because I'm troubleshooter enough to know the first error message might not be the actual problem, and fortunately it looked like that really was the problem. The Jeep isn't purring like a kitten, but it is contentedly grumbling to itself like a middle aged large cat that has to clear its throat occasionally.

And when I walked into the office, wearing my big sunglasses, black leather cap, and long bright scarf around my neck, the next cubicle neighbor looked up, blinked, and said, "I feel like you've just arrived on your motorcycle. From France." I grinned in delight.

My work boss is going to talk to mgmt to see if switching contracts is feasible. There's more, but it is the first question that has to be asked.

Had a morning meeting with CSwhatever mgmt clarifying policies as they now stand. WYSIWYG with me. I was probably the most visibly ANGRY one there. There is no doubt in anyone's mind that I want out.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Thanks, everyone! I backed out of group beers tonight (that I organized) because I don't feel safe driving to Durham on just a couple of hours' sleep (the pain has been keeping me up) with the epilepsy and all, which is probably overly cautious, but I'm also tired. One of the guys I have beers with offered to help with anything post-surgery, and another wrote a poem lamenting my absence. A third just wrote that they will pour one out in my memory, which I don't think is exaaactly what he meant.

Workplace ~ma all around. brenda, glad you have a way out. sara, hope you find one, too. Burrell, I hope your co-worker is OK.

Having had a dog who blended into the dark, I'm glad that Jetta came back.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

These are the bomb for dark as night dogs: [link] Not for this circumstance but generally.

One think is certain, nothing will happen until after Jan 1 so I can get my 401k match and owed PTO.

And also have a lot of sudden illnesses, right?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Thanks amyth, I won't know more until later, tomorrow or even after that probably.

OMG I am done with grading for now! I am so frigging tired, I'm going to celebrate by taking a nap before I head out to take my daughter to the doctor's this afternoon.

Our wings are not tired.

boo workplace shenanigans and yay brenda for finding a good way out of them

Indeed

Oh, my god, I hate everyone. Except you guys. But Jesus Christ, I cannot take the news any more. I can't cope.

Y'all are just speaking for me today!

Better plan, amyth. May rest be renewing.

Went to the dentist today, and overwhelmed with work as usual. At least it keeps me away from the news and FB. The absolute last straw was yesterday. A 'friend' posted her dream ideal world, which involved a Rubio/Fiorina vicotry, Trump as head of Homeland Security, and Obama and Clinton in jail. Along with another dozen ridiculous items that I glazed over. That's it. DH says I should just block people, but I really think cold turkey is better. Staying in the safe zones for my sanity.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Last night, the topic of politics came up, and my friend's husband said something about how he's not posting political stuff on FB anymore, and I could not stop myself before I said, "Oh, I can re-follow you now?" Hee. It really is just better that way.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yeah, I don't post political stuff on FB, even though the gun violence issue is sorely testing that resolve.
