Fingers and toes crossed!

We supposed to be having enchiladas tonight but Chef CJ is off at the dojo and likely won't be home until 8:30. The only food I have near me are Golden Oreo Double Stuffed cookies.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck, Consuela!

....so, this is the kind of story I have to start by saying everything is OK now. My father went missing again, this morning, but no one knew until late this afternoon. The goddamned paratransit driver let him get out at the wrong place this morning, and didn't tell anyone, so my mother didn't hear until the paratransit went to pick him up at the day program this afternoon. He doesn't go every day, so they just figured he wasn't going today. So my mother called me at work at like 4:30, and a friend came and picked me up, and we were driving around a little on our way home, when he turned up at their church! Thank god the administrator was still there, and they got him some soup while we went to get him. He was totally fine, save for wet feet, but god knows how he spent the day. Jeebus. I guess this is the end of paratransit for real this time.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, Jesse! Yeah, that sounds like a service you can't count on, for sure.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Oh god, Jesse. That sounds awful and terrifying. Are there other solutions to get him to the program?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Jesus, Jesse. That's terrifying.

And ... no luck. Or at least not right now, although my old boss keeps dropping my name to people (which is nice). They might have some short-term work for me in the next few weeks. And if I'd be willing to move to Reno, they'd hire me.

But with Dad how he is, I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of moving away. Especially since there is no longer a cheap Oak-Reno flight (Southwest cancelled the route about six months ago).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I guess it will be a combination of a pricy but reliable cab driver, my mother, and maybe some friends taking him to and fro. I know we have a friend who did elder care and is now semi-retired not quite by choice, so I suggested my mother hire her, but we're not sure she would take the money. I figure it's worth asking, at least.

I am having a second glass of wine.
