I'm weirdly upset about his death.
I was that way about Heath Ledger.
Addiction is so fucking brutal.
Oh, no. That's awful.
I think I've gotten over thinking it's weird that these deaths of people I don't actually know upset me. This is a bad one.

I actually did know him. He directed a play (largely about addiction) that I worked on. [link]
When we met I was asking him to please not stand directly under the very heavy lighting instruments the electricians were trying to lag bolt into the scenic beams and he asked me to call him Phil and started chatting about how naturally trusting he is.
23 years.
So he managed another 23 years of life and work than he might have. That's good.
Still sad, of course, but these kind of thoughts make me feel better.
