Oh man. I use my slow cooker 3 or 4 times a week these days, but all for the same thing. I need to branch out.
I bought a head of cauliflower following convos here and commit to roasting it today, just so I can know what y'all are on about.
Mashed cauliflower is really good, but I end up using it as a salt and butter delivery system, so I'm not sure it qualifies as healthy.
Sanding break.
Holy shit that makes a mess.
Time to stuff a chorizo empanada in my face.
Also, even with the swanky industrial vent mask, pretty sure I'm killing brain cells with lead paint dust. I can taste it. Funtimes!
I was wandering around the Santa Cruz bookstore yesterday and decided I needed to find a menu planning idea place called veggies first. I like vegetables , but they sometimes end up never leaving the fridge.
My tj is in a strip mall so parking is ok. I haven't been to the new whole foods yet, for a number of reasons. The local Sprout has an awful parking lot , but I can park in the back -a longer walk , but they put a cart retun in the back so it works
I use a respirarator in that situation,sarameg.
Really, if you can taste it (it's sweet! Don't ask how I know!) you need a respirator.
It may also be a good idea to VENTILATE THE HOUSE WELL because cats are especially prone to get anything in the dust in the house into their systems, because of their self-grooming. (They're notoriously prone to second-hand smoke problems.)
That's all JZ and I had for dinner last night. One head of cauliflower.
BTDT. Except just me. And more than once. And I have a HUGE head of cauliflower in the fridge right now!
I gotta try the roasted broccoli, though.
Also, I don't fry bacon anymore; I bake it, and when I do, I put raw mushrooms around the bacon on the cookie sheet, and sprinkle with pepper. NOM NOM NOM bacon and mushrooms for brekkie, with bacon crumbles to put (later) on salad/soup/pasta!
I'm trying a new recipe later: bowtie pasta with avocado, basil and bacon.
...huh. I'm hungry now!
Huh... maybe it is time for lunch!
After all this discussion of vegetables I had a spinach omelet for breakfast. Not roasted, but still delicious. Also, less upset about the spreadsheets now that I have some food in me.
I have been known to eat a whole head of cauliflower for dinner. I usually steam it in the microwave, because that doesn't require cutting it up and I like the flavor. Roasted cauliflower is delish but that extra step of cutting the head into pieces is sometimes too much for me.
