I am spending basically all day trying to find someone willing to accept responsibility for a decision I'll gladly make, but don't have the authority to. I need questions answered, and direction chosen.

I've been told that HR frowns on that. Right now I'm sticking to treating him like a bright and overly-helpful toddler.

I think if it's not your sharp stick, they might not mind as much.

Balls. I had a meeting with someone a couple of months ago, and we decided not to do what they wanted.

And I wrote a letter to that effect. Which has been sitting on my boss' desk for over a month, waiting for his signature. I have reminded him of it twice, but still no signature.

So the follow-up meeting with the people who want us to do the thing is tomorrow. And I'm going to have to say in person that we're not going to do the thing, and stop calling us. And I really don't want to.

I'll check with my boss when she comes back from vacation. Considering the dev in question, she'd probably give me a better review if I did poke him with sharp sticks.
