And the thing is, I like my evil like I like my men: evil. You know, straight up, black hat, tied to the train tracks, soon my electro-ray will destroy metropolis BAD.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I'll let you know tomorrow what I do first in a hotel room!

Where are you going, Jesse?

Should we maybe be having this discussion about images in the talky meat thread? It feels like a big enough change to board culture that it needs to be broader than Natter.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Wait... you were murdered by the person who profited by your death? But... why?

Because books.

Heh. "You need to leave your room more, son."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Where are you going, Jesse?

Puerto Rico! Assuming it stops snowing here in time, which it is supposed to.

I think most of the time I change my clothes first -- either I'm traveling to different weather, or I'm in for the night, or going to a meeting, or something that calls for different clothes.

Because books.

I think I do what I do pretty much everywhere -- take my shoes off and sit down to get the essentials out of my bag (phone, cigarettes, etc.).

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think the first thing I do in a hotel room is sit down and think that I should do one of the things y'all have mentioned, but which one?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

The first thing I do in a hotel room is open the drapes if it's daytime. If it's nighttime, the first thing I do is probably fiddle with the thermostat.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I don't have strong feelings on the inclusion of image threads, but my impression of ita's suggestion was that we might start a NEW thread that had images, and I gathered it was in part to share stuff like drawings or gifs that buffistae had made.

I just got in trouble for rolling up the shades outside my office, but fuck that -- they've been broken and down for a month!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, if anyone wants to include images in threads, that's their idea. I'm narrowing the focus of my request to an image thread, and I'm getting a bit confused by which objections belong to what.

I do think there are existing threads that could be even more fun with pictures, but the community bar that would have to passed in order to associate pictures with, say, arts and crafts or comics is a campaign I don't have energy to wager.

Of course, I'm not saying don't talk about your feelings about images in other threads--I'm not nannying topics. But I am also confused about whether my suggestion of a picture thread is the invoker of such agitas that there's no point checking out the technical requirement or not.

Natter was probably a bad place to bring it up. Lesson learnt.

My manager managed to embarrass me in front of the director I'm on loan to--he asked me to arrange something that my department should have been able to provide in ten minutes, but it got stretched out to days, and escalated and people didn't read emails, etc...

So the director went to another group, and had the stuff done himself in half an hour. Our IT mandate is to make people fans of our service. If everything gets pushed back and made into a meeting and takes forever, and the most officially hesitant department in the company turns things around faster, how are we achieving our objectives?

Never mind the incompetent developer has ignored everything I said about what we needed to know to propose a solution, and is refusing to do it because she "has zero knowledge". I pointed out that everyone here has zero knowledge--the question is who's going to learn. I hope the use of the word "officially" has my intended impact.
