Well, if anyone wants to include images in threads, that's their idea. I'm narrowing the focus of my request to an image thread, and I'm getting a bit confused by which objections belong to what.
I do think there are existing threads that could be even more fun with pictures, but the community bar that would have to passed in order to associate pictures with, say, arts and crafts or comics is a campaign I don't have energy to wager.
Of course, I'm not saying
don't
talk about your feelings about images in other threads--I'm not nannying topics. But I am also confused about whether my suggestion of a picture thread is the invoker of such agitas that there's no point checking out the technical requirement or not.
Natter was probably a bad place to bring it up. Lesson learnt.
My manager managed to embarrass me in front of the director I'm on loan to--he asked me to arrange something that my department should have been able to provide in ten minutes, but it got stretched out to days, and escalated and people didn't read emails, etc...
So the director went to another group, and had the stuff done himself in half an hour. Our IT mandate is to make people fans of our service. If everything gets pushed back and made into a meeting and takes forever, and the most officially hesitant department in the company turns things around faster, how are we achieving our objectives?
Never mind the incompetent developer has ignored everything I said about what we needed to know to propose a solution, and is refusing to do it because she "has zero knowledge". I pointed out that everyone here has zero knowledge--the question is who's going to learn. I hope the use of the word "officially" has my intended impact.
I was imagining a thread (or I guess two threads) where we can post pictures, mostly that deal with us and in the other threads people can say - Here is a picture of such and such or check out this picture of Misha Collins, is he naked?
and then link to the other threads.
But not actually having pictures in every thread.
What is the first thing you do after you check into a hotel room?
Make sure the toilet works. And then I plug in my phone.
Make sure the toilet works.
I couldn't find the toilet in my room in the Denver Four Seasons. I actually had to call the front desk.
DISNEY IN 2 DAYS!
I usually go to the bathroom when I get to a hotel room. If I don't need to, then I take out my toiletries and take them to the bathroom. I only unpack my bag if I am going to be at the hotel a full week or more.
I pretty much go to the bathroom when I arrive anywhere, at least to wash my hands (but probably to pee), so I didn't count that.
I also very often look at the view and then often turn off the a/c.

Ah, I was seeing it as an open discussion of possibly making an image thread and also of, at times, being able to post images more widely.
I think I was confused by the example of, say Tep got engaged and there could be squee pictures allowed for a while and then disallowed. Which, if there was an image thread, I would assume it would allow images all of the time. So that sounded like allowing images in already established threads.
My objection is to images in already established threads. Linking to and talking about images, I have no issue with but posting them? No, thank you.
I don't really like the idea of an image thread on b.org either but that's easy to avoid if we go to Bureaucracy and hash it out and vote one into being.

What does your company think this means? Because I don't think they are doing it right.

Wait, what? How did they hide the toilet from you?
After my recent experience with bed bugs, I think that is going to be the first thing I check next time I'm in a hotel. (We are assuming our infestation came from K-Bug's trip to Las Vegas).
