Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, pets.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think theoretically there are people who are not abused/drug addicted/are healthy, but the industry is really problematic

Do you mean theoretically, or do you mean actually, just in the minority? It's not that hard to find "ethically sourced" or "woman friendly" porn, if you're willing to pay for it and avoid the free plastic crap that's the underpinnings of the internet. I think it's definitely out there, and supporting the good bits is the best thing you can do for a problematic industry.

Avoiding the entire thing is not doing any good--you aren't denting anything, or swaying anything, not even a millimetre.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Now I'll be worrying about Mister Kitty, and not my roommate who is on the verge of being hospitalized for depression.

hip deep in pie

Aw, poor Miss Kitty, and poor Msbelle's bro's dog.

In good pet news, most of Clio's hair seems to be growing back on her paws. AND, she seems curious about the Roomba lately. (Lurking outside the room when it's on, not hiding on another floor.) Maybe I'll get a rider after all!!

brillig

I love the prevalence of kitties who see Roombas and, instead of going "Evil invader, run!", go "Ah ha! The humans have recognized my superiority and provided me a chariot worthy of me!"

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And your poor roommate, Theo! Does she have good people?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Mister Kitty is working on dying sooner rather than later again, and it might be time to help him along with that. He's all bones. But he's fooled me before, so who the hell knows. Vet tomorrow, worst-case-scenario mindset tonight.

Oh, Mister Kitty. I hope he rallies back but you are an amazing bibed for him and all of your cats, sara, and you have been very good to him. At some point, I know, we all lose the battle to keep them with us happily and healthily.

I have tried to make Kittenish promise that she won't go between late October and February because I have a bunch of holiday travel, need to board her a lot and can't bear to lose her from a distance. I used to try and make her promise to be immortal but even fake feline *swears* are bound by what is, at least, possible.

On the one hand, I figure if you're upfront about it, great. There's someone for everyone. But I would worry for her.

Honestly, I think her views will change but mostly I am glad she's really clear and honest with people she dates. Of the two, that is the more important to me currently. I don't think her views will stay the same but going into a relationship with your expectations clear and solidly communicating them? That really can't be a bad thing in her future, I figure.

Yay, interview. I hope it leads to an offer.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I love the prevalence of kitties who see Roombas and, instead of going "Evil invader, run!", go "Ah ha! The humans have recognized my superiority and provided me a chariot worthy of me!"

There's a dog I know (emphatically not mine) who thinks it's the greatest dog toy ever. He's learned how to turn it on so he can chase it around and bark at it.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

So they still haven't posted my job. My boss indicated that he would never tell someone they should stay with the organization if they felt it wasn't for them, which wasn't exactly reassuring. Basically, yeah, the institutional culture is fucked, but does that mean you just wave people out the door?

I think I have my deadline: the position has to be announced before Christmas. If it's not, I'm out of here. Probably by the end of January. Time to send some more email...
