Zoe: Nobody's saying that, sir. Wash: Yeah, we're pretty much just giving each other significant glances and laughing incessantly.

Punishingly Intricate

A positive review of the Kindle Fire on Slate

I can't get over the audacity of the offensive name! Somehow I didn't catch that at all with the Kindle but, of course, now it makes sense. Ugh!

I love bacon all ways, I think! Super crispy, chewy, in between. All good in my book!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Cool, ita ! Which one is your cousin's?

Man, I'm a useless pimp, aren't I? It's Iman Shervington, the last one on the page. Admittedly, I didn't watch all the rest, just Iman's, because she's cool like that.

And then I voted for hers because she's entirely cool like that.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I watched her film, and voted for her! I didn't watch the others, either, but her was really good, so.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Wow. GISHWES is really something.

I ended up cooking my bacon in the oven on a broiler pan at 400 degrees. It always seems like it takes longer than it should, but it came out very well this time. I don't have a microwave. I like my bacon crispy, too.

I realized when I typed my first response, I don't know if there's a microwave already there where I'm moving. I should look into that.

I don't think I've ever done bacon in the oven.

Watching football -- I wish these kids would tuck their hair in. Pretty sure long hair out of helmet just cost my team a TD. If I were a coach, I'd consider a hair inside the helmet rule. It was sort of funny to see someone get taken down by, basically, having his hair pulled. Except for the part where he didn't score. I mean, I'm all about the long hair on the right dude, just... tuck it!

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

So how do you recommend I drink the Absente, oh, mannered Lady?

Add the same amount of water to the glass as absinthe, but as slowly as possible. The dripping of the water helps the oils in the absinthe louche and turn that gorgeous milky jade color.

Absente is sweet enough that *I* don't add sugar to it, but I also drink Fernet straight. If you think you'll want sugar and you don't have an absinthe spoon: get a small spoon, dip it in the absinthe, dip it in the sugar, balance the spoon so the bowl is resting over the glass, then slowly pour/drip the water over it, dissolving the sugar.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I can't get over the audacity of the offensive name!

I... don't get it. What's wrong with the name?

My sister got a Kindle Fire this week. Seems okay, took me a bit to get used to it. The actual book-reading app is much like the one on my phone; I prefer the interface of my series-1 Kindle, actually.

I too love bacon almost any way: chewy for breakfast, but a bit crispy in a BLT.

Is it like Kendle=kindling to burn those fussy old-fashioned paper books up? I was wondering the same thing, Consuela.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Pretty sure that's a penalty anyway.

I am in favor of the hair. Polamalu! Matthews! What's not to love?
