I caught her on a park bench, making out with a *chaos* demon! Have you ever seen a chaos demon? They're all slime and antlers.

Because books.

They're just picking names out of a hat, and every week she has lunch with three employees.

One of the guidance counselors at Sara's school does that with the kids.

I have to fill out travel request forms. Two different sets, different charging account, different ways of running the estimate. We haven't even gotten to actually booking, which will be its own special portal to hell.

Going to work out the frustration in the pool tonight.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We leave put dog out all day when needs must--like today while the DH is off at the Auto Show. Big fenced yard, nice weather, a covered porch, fresh water, a special dog bed. He likes it as far as we can see.

Of course, I took a half-day off work yesterday because it was raining and I didn't want him having to deal with that. After Saturday, when we have the new puppy, that will change--no more unsupervised yard slounging.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

y'know ... in regard to the requirement for contraception in health care plans ... I wonder how many of the people who are vehemently arguing that this forces some religious organizations to violate their conscience were just as vehemently supporting the Komen foundation's right to choose how and where to spend their money and defund Planned Parenthood. I mean, if the Komen foundation can choose who qualifies to receive its money, can't the government?

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

ita !, I'm glad the lunch was just a lunch.

At karate today, one of the Masters came in to teach us. We went through choke holds and lapel grabs. Good solid self defense. Then I spent a half hour working with my fans. Man - you wouldn't think fans would be rough, but I feel like a total klutz.

Oh, and I gave a guy my phone number. Eeeep.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

y'know ... in regard to the requirement for contraception in health care plans ...

About this - I've been seeing all over the place (including from Pierce) the notion that this is about tax breaks. It's not. It's an equal protection question. If you provide health care coverage then that coverage must, under the law, include coverage for contraceptives. Full stop. There is no "if you want to continue receiving federal dollars" clause.

There are some issues regarding the church's (any church's) ability to discriminate or deviate from normal practice where that is at issue. But it's not the case here.

(What IS the case is that this is already settled law in 28 states, so either I missed the mass closures of hospitals and universities across half the country, or they've already learned to live with it somehow or other.)

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Found out a friend of mine fell and busted up her shoulder.(Dislocated and fractured) She may need surgery. 2012 is going on my list now. (There have been other crappy things happening to people I know this year, this is just the last straw.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

And every single one of them was a man. In historic preservation, which at the field level is probably 55% female, and that preponderance of women goes all the way up to the federal regulators in Washington.

Does this group only work to preserve historic buildings with towers or steeples?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Look at this IO9 article: [link]

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

That story uses the cover art for a Barbara Hambly book. Weird.
