y'know ... in regard to the requirement for contraception in health care plans ...
About this - I've been seeing all over the place (including from Pierce) the notion that this is about tax breaks. It's not. It's an equal protection question. If you provide health care coverage then that coverage must, under the law, include coverage for contraceptives. Full stop. There is no "if you want to continue receiving federal dollars" clause.
There are some issues regarding the church's (any church's) ability to discriminate or deviate from normal practice where that is at issue. But it's not the case here.
(What IS the case is that this is already settled law in 28 states, so either I missed the mass closures of hospitals and universities across half the country, or they've already learned to live with it somehow or other.)
Timelies all!
Found out a friend of mine fell and busted up her shoulder.(Dislocated and fractured) She may need surgery. 2012 is going on my list now. (There have been other crappy things happening to people I know this year, this is just the last straw.)
And every single one of them was a man. In historic preservation, which at the field level is probably 55% female, and that preponderance of women goes all the way up to the federal regulators in Washington.
Does this group only work to preserve historic buildings with towers or steeples?
Look at this IO9 article: [link]
That story uses the cover art for a Barbara Hambly book. Weird.

Yep! The governor is willing to sign it, but probably people will file to have a referendum in November's election, to try to vote it down. (BOO!)
