Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And, because, I'm old, which means they're old, but FUCK, but my father is scheduled for cataract surgery, which means my sister is going to be nursemaiding both parents, and I don't know if I can help all. Or afford to, since I just dropped dosh on the car.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ugh, ita. About how long will he need to recover from the surgery?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

As for the sonogram, they are a bit uncanny, especially since head-on they look so much like skulls, but then both my kids ended up looking like their profile scans.

Our hospital does, in addition to the regular sonogram, a 3D image of your child's face. (I don't know how common this is, but I know a few other people who have gotten them.) It's done by taking three images and using them to create a composite. I guess some of them turn out lovely, but ours turned out, well, deeply weird. Like, Uncanny Valley kinds of creepy. (Though M says at least now we know the Sprog looks like Milton Berle.) I don't like to look at it -- it just creeps me out.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I never watch reality TV except when I'm home sick. So far today, Tabatha's Salon Takeover, Supernanny, Big Cat Diary, and Animal Cops.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Go team 9th Circuit Court of Appeals!

Also, goodbye, Karen Handel. Nobody can say you didn't make an impact during your brief tenure, that's for sure.

10 days. Don't have a date for the surgery yet. But I'm not in a "convenient" place for leaving work, either. Because every little bit helps.

hip deep in pie

ita, my mom had cataracts removed while my dad was in ICU last spring. It was very simple. She was fine after only 4-5 days, and fit fro travel a week later. The issue was trying to get my stubborn mother to take her eyedrops, which she had to do for a few weeks.

Man, I can't get through to the 9th Circuit website: it must be slammed, and DailyKos & SFGate don't have a link to the decision.
