If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ack, ita !

It's a rental that got broken into, so I'm pretty much on my own for continued hemorrhaging of money

Check with your cc. Usually they have some kind of automatic coverage. Also, your work probably has some kind of policy on the laptop. Don't agree to pay for that without investigating.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

In year end hair news, I can pull all my hair back into a ponytail!

You're not filling me with New Year's cheer.

I can't! (You're welcome.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh, God, ita, I'm so fucking sorry. I have nightmares of that sort of thing happening, and we do backup regularly. I hope something can be done.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Hey, anyone want this in a small [link] ? It got added to my order by accident and they said not to bother returning it. I'm not a small.

If no other Buffistas clamor, my Niecelet would adore that. And she's definitely a small. Oh, 22...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I know no one should break into my car (it was locked--they broke the rear window), but I do know better than to leave stuff visible. And the car had no trunk (you should have seen me looking for the trunk release yesterday--but it turns out it just doesn't open )you sling stuff over the rear seats, but if you peer into the BLACK SHADOWY INTERIOR at NIGHT in the DARK PARKING AREA you can pick out a BLACK LAPTOP CASE, and therefore I got screwed. I should have taken better precautions, and just made that second run back to my car to get what I couldn't carry in the first load.

I recently got my mail account upgraded so I hadn't archived anything in the past month, but all the older stuff I had to move in order not to run over the limit. I do not remember if My Documents is backed up, but I suspect not yet. They had meant to implement that, but I doubt it's in production yet.

So everything I've not finished and therefore not mailed out? Gone. Gnargh.

Last laptop that got stolen, IIRC, got returned by someone who said they bought it for $75 at a garage sale. The encryption is pretty hard core--the thief will need to replace the HD for it to be usable. I can only hope.

Okay, @enterprisecares has DMed me instructions to send in my complaint. I guess I should get my ass into gear.

Thanks, Kat. Turns out it's probably cheaper for me to return the car Monday (what with the remote dropoff fee if I take it to LAX, but apparently they can't tell me the fee in advance), so I'll just do that and the local office better fucking drive me home. They've had at least 2 months of mine and Geico's money. I don't care it wasn't a top tier car. The least you can do is be responsive.

(god, Sarameg, how do you get that by mistake? I'd almost take it, but I don't always have business wearing a small--it does depend on the individual sizing, and how I am willing to, ah, come across)

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ita,

I think it is worth talking to the Enterprise people to see if they will waive the dropoff fee given the circumstances. I think a manager might be understanding and waive it.

I can also bring you popsicles, ita, as we got a zoku for christmas. They are all organic fruit and yogurt.

Oh. and sweetened with biscoff.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh ita, I'm so sorry. It is quite an ordinary mistake, made by people who aren't distracted by chronic headaches, holidays and sick mothers. Don't blame yourself any more than you would someone else with all those distractions, K?
