I've never made starter from scratch, so, no tips BUT I would be happy to mail you some of mine, which is quite tasty and rises well.

Good luck!! I am not sure if what I started is working, because I already felt better by the time I actually had the appointment where I asked for it. OTOH, I think it takes more than a week to really kick in, so...hopefully I will soon become mad productive and shit.

So wait, does that mean it is or is not possible to make sourdough starter from yeast at the grocery store? Or os all yeast one colony? That seems like a distinction without a difference, if so.
