I really want to clean my house today, so it's nice for the new year, but trash day isn't until Monday and taking out the trash is a key piece of the clean-house picture. I think I might just take it out today anyway.

I think he means all sourdough from SF bakeries. Wild yeast strains are highly localized - you can make sourdough outside the Bay area but it won't taste the same. (Even if you import a sourdough starter from SF, it will collect local wild yeast as it matures, which changes the flavor proile.)

So no SF bakery has ever made their own starter? Really? Weird. At least it's less weird than his actual assertion that no one had ever made their own starter--I was tempted to make some for that very easily disprovable reason. And then I got lazy again.

I would also like to note that the weather here today is the WORST -- rainy and 35. Why can't it be 30 and snowy???
