Kat,
fight that thing. that is ridiclous.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Kat I just did a quick look through the CA Vehicle Code and I don't see "proximity of the disabled person" is listed as a requirement. So I call bullshit!
Really?
If it's anything like here, they're recently really cracking down on people abusing handicap placards - like, your shut-in grandmother has a placard but never drives (or has been dead for four years, or whatev), so you cruise around parking in handicap spots all over the place. There've been a bunch of big sting operations. If the person with the impediment is not there, you are not allowed to use the spaces, so it's a reasonable standard. BUT, not there (because they're at home watching a movie) and not there (because you're meeting them or waiting to pick them up) are quite different things.
That said, it's shitty as hell that Kat got caught up in it and the people were so unreasonable, and I really hope you get a good resolution.
Yeah. 16 years ago in San Francisco, you got a $850 fine and automatic forfeiture of a handicapped placard if you parked in a handicap spot without the handicapped person with you.
Dunno anything about if the handicapped person meets you there after you parked.
Brenda, they have been cracking down on that in West Hollywood, but my admittadly quick look at the code doesn't say anything about proximity. We are allowed to use my mom's placard, in her car, to take her to the doctor, etc I very rarely go in with her but wait in the car, in the handicapped spot and I've never had anyone say boo to me.
OK, cool. I'm guessing Saturday afternoon, but Sunday morning might be an option too, unless your friend's party starts early. I can probably let you know in the next week or two what'll work best for us. edit: Do you know what times would be best for you & Tim?
It looks from the Web site like Sunday tours don't include the crypts (I really REALLY want to know why). And I think the crypts would be the coolest part, although I don't mind missing them if a Sunday tour works better for you. The latest Saturday tour time is 12:30, if that would work for you guys. We don't have to make reservations right now, so you two talk about it and we'll figure it out in the next week or two.
Consuela,
listen to your sister. Maybe she can help you with the bad parts of applying for a new job.
Oh, for the record, I wasn't parked in a disabled SPOT. I was parked in the regular spot. But I had the placard up and paid only the $4 dp placard fee instead of the $11 regular fee.
Oh, holy heck. That is redonkulous, Kat. Fight, fight, fight!!!
Katie took Grace over to the office where you contest tickets, which didn't open until 12:00 and was told that she had to wait 24 hours to contest and it was the same on line and in person. Katie said she wanted it noted that the disabled person was present on campus, in proximity.
The woman in line behind had dropped her handicapped teen off at camp and went to park the car using the placard and also got ticket and was pissed.
WTF?!
That's even more ridiculous. Jeez.
