"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Sometimes to speed the game up, we would shuffle the property and distribute it evenly (if it wasn't even, you could choose between property and cash for the last round), spend 15 minutes trading and then start the game. Made it faster, at least.

LiveJournal Status

We can now publicly disclose that we have been experiencing a large-scale DDoS attack the last two days, which has been the reason for the site issues most users have been experiencing. The traffic load has been immense, at many times our normal load level, and the attack is still on-going. We are in constant contact with our providers to mitigate the attack as best as possible. We again apologize for the disruption to LiveJournal usage, and are working to get everything back to normal as soon as we can. Thank you!

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

megan, could you do a quick translation check? the rugby boys are going to a tournament in Montreal, and want the team motto "Everything in Excess" on the jerseys in french. I think it would be "Tout à la excès" or possibly ""Tout de excès"? any thoughts?

There's a French proverb which says L'excès en tout est un défaut. So you could use L'excès en tout, but that might not convey what they want since in the proverb it's a fault. Otherwise, tout à l'excès is used the most (there's also "tout dans l'excès" but I prefer using "à").

I love Bohnanza and Settlers, but Pit is great when you have a bunch of people. It is really easy to learn and extremely quick to play. It was our go-to game as kids in Vermont. But you have to get a set with the bell!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

He can still be a giant asshole who dismisses and marginalizes sexualities that aren't...well, that aren't his own.

to add to this: he also seems to have a serious blindspot for women. If I woman asks him a question, Hera help her. Most of the time she will not get what she needs.

I meant to mention that, but I got stuck on his horrific interview with the guy behind AVEN (the asexual website/community) where Savage quite literally went from (more or less insulting) questions about asexuality to -- with no transition -- a question about Catholic priests abusing children. As if they are in any way related.

Glad to hear it, Fred Pete. Happy recovering.

Perkins, I found your next gift! [link]

heeee

LOVE YOU!

ION, people, yesterday I FINALLY managed to watch both diet and finances: breakfast bars, whole wheat bread, salad, yogurt, and rice and beans. Not quite down to $1/day (I am a reading a book where a couple does this as an experiment) or eating well & exercising, but better than most days for me. My current plan in these areas is to cook with what I have in the house and to only spend $20 or less on visits to the grocery this month. I am focusing on fresh veggies on sale, beans, and the healthiest cheapest options that mac will eat.

So someone posted the original memo with casting suggestions for ST:TNG.

[link]

I think my favorite possibility is Yaphet Kotto as Picard. I love Patrick Stewart, but the mind boggles at the possibilities.

Also, apparently Denise Crosby was brought in to read for Troi instead of Tasha.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

All the names I recognise for Geordi are black. But the other roles seem reasonably diverse. Are all those guys black?
