Natter 67: Overriding Vetoes

More for you.
I already love the Obscure. Love love. This is my first matte, but I can tell I'm going to have to get more, or maybe just the matte topcoat. It'll be perfect for stage lighting when I want to keep a certain color instead of everything being the weird orange that's on me.
I am SO jealous of Scola. All I did today was drive to the OC and pick up a bunch of bedframes to be handed off from SiL to Cousin (by way of Aunt and Uncle who are stopping here on their way from LAX to Northern Cali). Took almost two hours to get home. Feh. Now, I am going to clean the catbox. Tonight, I am going to see
The King's Speech,
though, so the whole day is going uphill. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush, Yowza!
Going uphill seems counterintuitive as a positive, since it's hard work.
The big guy in Bev Mo was singing along to "In Your Eyes" while he rang up my purchase. I might have fallen a little bit in love with him then.
I found the red much brighter and longer-lasting than MP
I think it also really depends on your hair--the one time I did MP red with a friend (bleaching first), his came out a couple weeks later by Thanksgiving, and he just had the bleachy streaks, whereas mine was still pretty bright red as of New Year's when I over-dyed it.
I also went to a craft fair today! And was variously tempted by some things, but in the end only bought food--some cookies and some goat cheese truffles. There were earrings I liked, but they were expensive.
If you can find it, the SPLAT! semiperm from Walgreen's is awesome. I found the red much brighter and longer-lasting than MP, and it doesn't have that patchouli smell Special FX does.
Ooh, good to know. Since SFX means a special trip to Ricky's, but Walgreens is right down the street from me.
OTOH, Ricky's does have the advantage of selling all the other hair dye supplies in bulk (lightener, developer, gloves, caps) so I'm not blowing $15 on a box of Born Blonde every time I need to bleach. (OTOOH, if Dylan ever decides he wants a streak of color, I'd rather take him to Walgreens, since Walgreens does not, as far as I know, sell sex toys in the same aisle as the hair products.)
My mind was in an "I'm hungry!" state an hour ago, while my mom was finishing off the last of my rotini and Prego. I stuck my finger in her sauce when she sat next to me and gazed longingly at the last rotini noodle on her plate before she put it in the sink.
I'm now drinking my TJ's veggie soup--yummmmm!!
We completely cleaned out my food cabinets today. Lots of old stuff I should have thrown out years ago, and a bunch of stuff I can donate to the local food pantry, like rice packets, salad dressing, and some unopened instant hot cocoa mix.
I've got so many cans of kidney beans and tuna fish that I didn't know about!! After I move onto the pureed food stage in ten days, I'll be making up some homemade chili and well-lubricated and finely shredded tuna salad.
We just got home from downtown Denver where CJ earned his next belt rank. He is now "green with a brown stripe". Next is brown, which has three levels, and then black.
It was a 4 hour test. I didn't watch but was there for the final part where the belts were awarded. The Master said that this wasn't a physical test as much as working the details of the material. The last test CJ was on was a physical test and man, the students could barely walk out of the dojo when they were done. This time, I could tell people were mentally maxed out.
A couple of girls from the dojo were also there testing for their brown belts. Their test was still going when we left.
I had some sweet potatoes I needed to use up, so I decided to make myself this soup for dinner, and it is now simmering away. No idea how it will taste yet, but man is it making my apartment smell good.
Congrats to CJ!
Ooh, Perkins, that sounds delish!
I was worried that I had put too much peppercorn in my stew, but I realized that it was because I hadn't eaten anything but fruit all day and I was attempting to devour the stew while it was still in its molten lava stage.
I bought some Bob's Red Mill Organic Whole Wheat Flour the other day, and used that to thicken the stew. It says on the package that the flour keeps best refrigerated or frozen. Anyone refrigerate their crunchy granola hippie flour?
