Hey Burrell, what was the name of that children's bookstore you recommended? I'm not having any luck getting anyone who will do an event.
If I hit a wall, I think I'll do one at a library and give away books.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, nail polish, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Burrell, was it black cod we had at the Harrison Ford restaurant? I was totally impressed with that new dish. But see how I can't remember what it is.
Mmm, now that you remind me of it, I think it was. That was yum.

Children's Book World on Pico. The advice I was given by the staff was to send a press kit, not a copy of the book itself.
Not that it would be the same thing at all, but what about giving readings at some of the local elementary schools? I could talk to the librarian at my school. I'm not sure what it would entail but I know the parents have been itching to have more things in the library.
Thanks, Burrell! I would love to do an elementary school, and see if one of the conservation places would bring a bat.
Amyth, ~ma to the thousanth. I can't imagine how frightened I'd be if it was my bro. Please call if you need to talk. If you need my phone number, e me.
I'll ask around tomorrow, Allyson.
Oo, another thought: Not sure when it's opening, but there's going to bring a bat exhibit into the California Science Center's ecosystems exhibit. Very kid-friendly place, too. Plus bats!
Timelies everyone!!
For the first time since getting this job, I am substitute teaching a subject I actually know something about! Spanish!!
And all the students (gigantic male high school seniors, mostly, they are soooo tall it is freaking me out) are sitting around discussing Hannah Montana. It is hysterical. (I think they did their assignment already? So I don't mind!)
Allyson, have you tried Mrs. Nelson's Bookstore? Also, Once Upon a Time in Montrose? Maybe also Star EcoStation in Culver City which is a conservation place.
zuisa, Seniors always crack me up and tower over me. Luckily they do a lot of sitting and I do a lot of standing. And the really vocabulary ones tell me I'm scary because I'm trenchant.
I'm having a slight panic about the stuff for my big meeting this morning, and it's so annoying, because I asked people to get their parts to me last week! If they had DONE THAT, we would not be in this situation! Argh.
I have an Honors level class now. These kids are so polite it is frightening. Of course, I've known a couple of the kids in this class since they were about six (lots and lots of community theater) which is weird on a whole other level.
Yeah, everyone towers over me, it's not exactly difficult. Seniors are fun. I find high school kids fun in general.... it's mostly just 8th graders that drive me insane.
I'm strongly considering looking for another job. The thought makes me want to cry, but I'm getting to the point where my current job makes me want to cry, so I'm not sure how it could be worse.
Unless I got a new job that paid less, required me to go into an office, and still had a crazy boss and an insane workload. Then I'd have to quit and sell all my possessions and live in a van.
