We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I have an apple cake in the oven for a gathering this afternoon. At the last minute I decided the apples were too sweet and I grated some ginger into the batter. I hope everyone likes ginger-apple-pecan cake...

While chopping vegetables I'm going to roast later for pizza-making, I sliced into the tip of my pinkie, argh. Second time in the last few weeks I've done that, and no, it's not that the knife is too dull, I just get my fingers in the way. Bah.

Art Crawl!!!

Woo hoo! for Liese's SO for making it home.

It is in the mid-40s here too and the abundant rain overnight and this morning has melted away much of the snow.

A friend came by and asked if I needed to go to the grocery store and I did and I spent way too much. Afterwards we went to Starbucks and then we tried to see if our local co-op was open to try to find mochi. Not open - so we did a stop at the Imbodens which is a butcher and specialty store. Very little east Asian stuff and no mochi. So sad.

Anyway, back home, groceries put away and my cat is in the same position she was in when I left.

Now she is vomiting.

Great.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I don`t think we have any booze in the house. Oh, no wait, there`s the peppermint schnapps from the lunar eclipse night! So we will toast the new year with peppermint schnapps.

So the dishes are mostly washed, the lines are in the laundry machine. The dog has played in the snow. I boiled the water and refreshed the birdbath and swept the front steps.

The SO is asleep, poor thing. I rekindled the fire and made a spot for him to sleep on the sofa, but he fell asleep in the time it took me to do that.

So I have some canned goods to put away. And then! There will be knitting!

Go to Target or stay home and do nothing. I'd take a nap but there is a kid in my spot on the bed and the couch isn't long enough.

I'm sorry your grandmother's not doing well, shrift, and for your roommate losing her cat.

But yay on Liese's SO making it home!

I swam a whole 2 miles crawl without stopping! (I normally do 2 miles Fri-Sun, but that's 66 laps straight, then my 6 cool down ones, whereas today I did 72 then the 6.)

And I acquired a needed pedicure and bought a small bottle of sparkling wine and am about to go pick up thai food. Which will be my first food all day. Oops?

I don't feel like trying to do anything with my friend. I feel bad, but sick. And given I haven't heard a peep from her, I'm guessing her gastrointestinal ick acquired from her neicelets is still giving her issues.

OK, time to get spicy food.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Knitting by the fire: achieved! And it was everything I hoped it would be. I am much more chill now. And! The front and back of my sweater are complete! Now if only I could find my pattern book so I could make a start on the sleeves. I also cannot find my big bag of yarn, and I suspect the two are in the same place. I just don`t know what place.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

YAY for LSO being home!

I am not drinking, but I am awake, after a long long nap. I do have a little bottle of decent sparkling wine for later, but later might be next year.
