I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I had Shake Shack for lunch. You're all jealous now.

Indeed. And I don't even know exactly what a Shake Shack is, except I'm pretty sure shakes are involved.

I hit the gym to get one last workout in before the New Years resolution crowd hits it. I've also walked the cat and started laundry. Something about starting the year with clean clothes and fresh sheets on the bed appeals. I've also set up the new router I got for Christmas. Videos are streaming much more quickly now. And as of last night I have a tumblr: [link] Still not sure what all I'll be doing with it, but it reminded me to check out provocateuse again, so I'm calling it good.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

My roommate had to put her cat to sleep on Tuesday, and my sister just called to talk about our grandmother, who isn't doing well. Now I'm upset and worried about my mom, and wondering what kind of attorney she'll need to deal with deadbeat relatives once my grandmother is gone.

I guess I'm having a salad for lunch, since I somehow haven't gained any holiday weight and I'd like that trend to continue. I'll probably make a giant, comforting mess of stir fry for dinner, though.

I think I'm going to sit on my ass and watch things that are expiring from Netflix Instant Watch, and then pack for Michigan.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ahem. The SO is HOME!

Whoohoo! He is now snuggled under his sleeping bag, watching Everybody Loves Raymond and eating a peanut butter sandwich.

Seabiscuit was so happy to see him.

OMG. Am landed at Dulles and in longest security line ever. Why do I have to go through security again anyway? Customs/passport I get, but I just got off a secure plane...

Plus, sedated not working and ear is painfully stopped up. Ow.

(ETA: that should be "sudafed" not "sedated"!)

I am really only having a glass of lambic, but it may be all I drink today/tonight, so woohoo!

I have washed many, but not all of the dishes. Also emptied the dishwasher and put some of the things from the trip away. Still much to do, and I really should take advantage of the boy being outside with friends.

I have a bottle of champagne that has been in my fridge since before the kids were born. I think when Grace's trache is finally closed, we will drink it.
