Lorne: Once the word spreads you beat up an innocent old man, well, the truly terrible will think twice before going toe-to-toe with our Avenging Angel. Spike: Yes. The geriatric community will be soiling their nappies when they hear you're on the case. Bravo.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ahem. The SO is HOME!

Whoohoo! He is now snuggled under his sleeping bag, watching Everybody Loves Raymond and eating a peanut butter sandwich.

Seabiscuit was so happy to see him.

OMG. Am landed at Dulles and in longest security line ever. Why do I have to go through security again anyway? Customs/passport I get, but I just got off a secure plane...

Plus, sedated not working and ear is painfully stopped up. Ow.

(ETA: that should be "sudafed" not "sedated"!)

I am really only having a glass of lambic, but it may be all I drink today/tonight, so woohoo!

I have washed many, but not all of the dishes. Also emptied the dishwasher and put some of the things from the trip away. Still much to do, and I really should take advantage of the boy being outside with friends.

I have a bottle of champagne that has been in my fridge since before the kids were born. I think when Grace's trache is finally closed, we will drink it.

I have an apple cake in the oven for a gathering this afternoon. At the last minute I decided the apples were too sweet and I grated some ginger into the batter. I hope everyone likes ginger-apple-pecan cake...

While chopping vegetables I'm going to roast later for pizza-making, I sliced into the tip of my pinkie, argh. Second time in the last few weeks I've done that, and no, it's not that the knife is too dull, I just get my fingers in the way. Bah.

Art Crawl!!!

Woo hoo! for Liese's SO for making it home.

It is in the mid-40s here too and the abundant rain overnight and this morning has melted away much of the snow.

A friend came by and asked if I needed to go to the grocery store and I did and I spent way too much. Afterwards we went to Starbucks and then we tried to see if our local co-op was open to try to find mochi. Not open - so we did a stop at the Imbodens which is a butcher and specialty store. Very little east Asian stuff and no mochi. So sad.

Anyway, back home, groceries put away and my cat is in the same position she was in when I left.

Now she is vomiting.

Great.
