I couldn't believe it the first twenty times you told us, but it's starting to sink in now.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

We were up and out early this AM, forgetting that the nurse said he'd be here at 7:30. Normally he's not here until 10:00 when he says 9:00 so we were disbelieving.

The car told us it was 34 degrees out. 34 degrees in LA is SILLY as no homes are insulated. So I am cold.

The blackeyed peas are on the stove with the hambone from Christmas. The greens this year will be spinach.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

YAY $$ and de-cluttering.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Happy New Year, billytea!!

After a week of stress/holiday eating, I went back to WW this morning. Did not weigh in as I did not want to see exactly how much I gained, but I have mentally reset and have gone grocery shopping and have planned my meals for the week. I feel better already and after a week of good eating will be able to face the scale next week. I don't think I'll lose everything I gained, but I'll at least feel more in control.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Welcome back, ChiKat!!

I'm going for a swim after getting out of here in a few minutes, my first one since signing up at the pool on Monday. I've been carrying around my swimsuit with me for a few days, but have always been too damn tired to go after work. Last night, I went to Panera for dinner, had the chicken noodle soup, around 6:30 fell asleep on the couch for a few hours, and then kept on waking up and falling back to sleep until 4:30 this morning. I was really wiped out yesterday!

When I get home, I've got to do dishes and laundry, and make up some more egg salad. Tonight's NYE party was going to have pulled pork, but since there are only a few of us attending, I just got an email that she's only going to have appetizers. I don't know if I'll be able to eat them, so I'm bring something with, either that egg salad or the chicken salad I bought at Panera.

not your mom's socks.

Sox, Sox's husband, and little adorable HKF are all passed out in my bedroom. I picked them up at BART around 1, and we spent the day visiting and preparing my place for the big NYE shindig tomorrow.

We did indeed pass out. Javachick kindly skipped the part where I was so tired that I couldn't keep warm, and was thus ridiculously attired with many ridiculous layers. Javachick's house is gorgeous, which is fitting, because so is she. HKF is completely entranced. And slept until 9 am. We needed it. 12 hr flight was Noisy.

Hi peoples, we are almost home!

Last time we flew back from my sister's, we spent the night at a hotel near LAX, with a cranky, teething infant who'd been great on the flight only because she was saving her energy. This time was so much different. Not in the least because Javachick is an amazing hostess. Also because it was lovely to spend the afternoon talking and catching up with a friend. We are really looking forward to today, and to the new year. Happy New Year BT & Family Tea!

Art Crawl!!!

My cat is not feeling well today. She is uncharacteristically quiet and I am concerned. I hope it's just a passing thing. I have a cold myself today - I'm all stuffy and headachy.

And it was raining this morning. Not so much now - just misty and wet out.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay for almost home!

The SO is getting ready to give it another shot this morning. Last night the forecast said there would be a four hour break in the snow this morning, but today the forecast calls for snow showers all day. So we'll see.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I used my new kitchenaid for the first time, AIFG!! My stout cake is in the oven and the mix tasted great.

My sister texted and she won't be able to make it for NYE, for which I feel sneakily relieved. She's a good girl, and I would be happy to have her, but now I feel like I can relax a bit more and just party, and not be a Hostess, you know? Everyone else coming are all good, old friends, and they take care of themselves.

I WILL have 4 kids under 10 here, 3 of whom are staying the night. M is SO jazzed!
