Tara: What's so bad about them coming here? Aren't they good guys? I mean, Watchers, that's just like whole other Gileses, right? Buffy: Yes! They're scary and horrible!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think maybe UPS doesn't realize we weren't waiting on a last-minute Christmas present, but I'm grateful for the delivery anyway - I was starting to really worry that the new Amby mattress wouldn't arrive until after the baby was born!! But it's here, delivered to our 4th-floor doorstep while we were out at the planetarium watching "the space movie," and all is well with the world.

(Well, except for the mini-tantrum being thrown in the other room over handwashing. Kid, it's not like "wash your hands after you pee" is some kind of arbitrary new rule we just introduced today. This should be a habit by now.)

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

OMG! I was just about to give up on this being-alone-on Christmas, faking-it-till-I-make-it thing, hoping my brother doesn't die today or tomorrow pleeeease, and just go to bed, but this cheered me right up, from my besties: [link]

It's the little things.

Duly amended list per flea's suggestion.

Yay.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

We've had really good luck with our ups/fedexers, who delivered all before Christmas (unexpectedly) and before noon. It's a holiday miracle! Also, cold medicine was 2-for-1 at Rite Aid -- it's like baby jesus is lookin' out, just for me!

And the cats are well-behaved, I'm making duck tomorrow, and I STILL DON'T HAVE TO GO TO THE INLAWS! Merry Christmas everyone!

Because books.

My kitchen smells like molasses and spice and sugar, and I'm going to go play with babies in the nursery for the 5 p.m. church service. I still have everything to wrap, but we always marathon that while watching TV after the kids are in bed, with alcohol, so that's something to look forward to.

Merry, everyone!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

UPS guy came and *didn't* throw my package on the balcony, so I have more stuff to pack to take back for my sister.

She's definitely going to have to lend me clothes if I run out. I'm not packing a second checkin. It's only a week.
