Giant Hobbit eating stork!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Other than the human hobbits, who probably arrived on the island on boats, there were no large mammalian predators such as wolves or big cats on Flores at the time. This allowed many species to grow bigger, such as the stork and the giant rats that lived at the same time as the hobbits. "We think the stork moved into the position of being a top predator," Dr Meijer added. "It would have probably fed on the giant rats and even juvenile hobbits, which were the same size as the rats."

Huh.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I definitely should have worn boots today. It wasn't snowing at all when I left the house, but now the snow is so thick that it's completely obscuring the mountain I can usually see from my office window.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Friday! What are people doing this weekend?

Mine's sort of starting early, because I'm working from home today, which means I get to do home stuff when it's not busy, and I have a lot of home stuff to do. Also errands, and laundry, and cleaning.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Weekend: Not a thing. We came back with like $2 in the bank account so we have no money for anything for a couple of weeks.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

If I'm not mistaken, there's some McWarringles in the second photo up there.

Yep, that's us! That was a fun Neighborhood Association meeting I tell you whut.

It's been pretty chilly here this week - highs in the upper 40s- but it looks like next week will be more in the 60s, so yay. I am tired of wearing socks all the time.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I hate winter.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have so many weekend plans! Date tonight, vet in the morning, then to the parents' where I will bake cookies with my mother and/or take my father Christmas shopping, to be followed by Family Dinner, because Sunday afternoon, we'll be at an event. Sunday morning laundry, etc.
