I watched the Salt Lake City tornado from a window on the 6th floor of a building, stupidly thinking "It looks just like on the Discovery Channel," and not thinking, "Oh, look, flying debris looking for a window to smash and an idiot to hurt."

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Allyson, maybe not for the release, but have you thought of maybe contacting any local zoos that have a bat exhibit to maybe do readings on weekend day?
Zoo Atlanta has an overnight program for kids that sometimes focuses on nocturnal animals and also has recommended books for kids [link]
Oh man, was just looking at the tv guide, and I think the Grey's Anatomy season closer eps are on tonight, with the shooting....sure enough. Man, talk about BAD timing. Eesh. I'm actually surprised they didn't preempt it for this market.
You know what's weird? By the time I'd heard the news today, lisah's friend was accounted for and safe and it all seemed at a distance, but even though I missed most of those eps of GA, I don't want to watch them now. Really don't want. Sorta like when I heard they were talking about making a movie or docu about the bowling alley massacre that occurred in my hometown when I was in high school, I just wanted to never see it (claimed a longtime schoolmate's two cousins, and she and her twin were there as well, and was basically the worst crime scene my town had known since the wild west days.) Just...no.
And in lighter news, Loki just fell asleep with his nose in my ear. Really?
Oh, and I should say a belated thanks for the squash recipes! They are bookmarked. At the moment, I'm eating roasted acorn squash seasoned with garlic and curry powder on a bed of arugula.
mac did his own version of DINAO to me tonight: "Mom which do you like better, Elliot Moose or Barney?" AHHHHH horrible horrible shows.
Ahahaha!
I think I'd compost much of the squash. I like zuchs and yellow squash, and like my pumpkin products, but everything else is texture+taste issues.
I just looked up the bowling alley massacre. 20 years ago this past Feb. And there was a docu made of it. Man. We never went bowling again after that (only bowling alley in town.)
Oooh, I found a new place to spend my imaginary money, and I think a lot of Buffistas ladies will lurve it: unique-vintage.com

a tornado comes because the women aren`t taking care of their hair properly
My old roommate used to distinguish certain big cities as places "where you have to brush your hair". Mostly that meant Paris, Montreal, NY v. Chicago, Toronto etc.
Other bookstores, Allyson --
There's Once Upon a Page in Montrose, which is tiny, but they like to do local authors, especially local kid authors. Also, Children's Book World on Pico is a good one. Mrs. Nelson's in LaVerne (which is far) does a ton of book fairs etc. so it's a good spot.
What about Dragonfly DaLou? They have a biggish eventish space. and Sean Maher shops and does activities there for his daughter.
