"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Tomorrow I am going to the emissions inspection station and hoping they've got power so I can get my car inspected. (Deadline is August 4th, which is when we leave for Raleigh) I should also pick up something to wrap Gary's anniversary gift in.

Sunday we have ticket to the Nationals' game. Alas, we will not get to see Strassburg pitch(he's on the disabled list), but it's still a game. Then, dinner somewhere.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

How's your mom doing, Matt?

Yay, Allyson!

I am growing ever more convinced of my theory that corn goes downhill really fast after picking it. Last week, I waited until Saturday to eat the corn from Friday's pickup, and it was just OK. I just had one from today, and it was AWESOME. Like two weeks ago's Friday night corn. Mmmm.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That is not so much a theory as a true fact, Jesse.

Eta: I'm experimenting with the notion that if you cook corn immediately it keeps better. Good results so far from roasting all the ears that came last last week.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

When I was a kid and we picked corn, we always cooked it all that same day. We froze most, and ate the rest.

I wasn't sure it was a fact, but I have believed it for years! This is why I won't eat supermarket corn. I'm just glad to have data. I think I need to eat tonight's second ear now.

I guess if you don't know a fact is a fact it is a theory. Mmm, epistemology.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Corn and peas start converting their sugar to starch as soon as they're picked.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Jesse, you're growing corn at home? That's cool. I thought you were living in Manhattan or somewhere similarly scarce on backyard space.

Heh. I am now living in Boston, and my corn came from a CSA.
