The current PBS genealogy series with Skip Gates is called Faces of America [link]
I also HIGHLY recommend African-American Lives (2 series), which many public libraries will have. It is amazing. [link]

msbelle, how perfect! Man, sometimes things just fall into place as if it was meant to be.
yay msbelle, homeowner!
I hate that iPhone wants to make ita capitalized. But I hate the pain ita is suffering through much, much more.
MsBelle, that's damned fine news. Did you feel right back at home in Texas?
I am awaiting my luggage. I am going to miss the snow. But I get to see my dogs in 20 minutes! The worst part of traveling is missing The Wigglebutts.
Congratulations, msbelle!
And, oh damn, ita. What everyone said, especially Ginger:
If only the concern and hopes of people who care for you could fix things.
If our wishes made a difference, you'd be the healthiest woman on the planet.
The iPhone, eventually, stops attempting to uppercase the I.
ita, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this again.
::sigh:: The backup shot took partial effect, so I had them cut me loose. What I really need are two things, one of which won't happen before March at the earliest, and the other might not happen period because the ER doesn't want to administer me meds in the way that's most efficacious for me.
Thanks for the good wishes. I'm frankly at a loss, but not for emotional support.
I'm so sorry, ita.
::piles on more good wishes anyway, and bonus Winchesters::
msbelle, house! That's so awesome.
I think I figured out the twist in Shutter Island (the book) halfway in, and I'm really hoping I didn't. I also hope the movie is as good as it looks in the previews.
Congrats to you, msbelle!
ita, I join everyone in their concern and hope that things get better soon. Is your appt. early in March, at least?
java - sadly Texas never really felt like home even when I lived there growing up. My parents being there makes it feel somewhat homey, and this particular house feels like me, so there is that.
we have 2 more gallons of paint, one is a shade lighter/paler than what was already painted and I will have him redo the entry room. Now to go room by room and mark everywhere that needs tough up. I am hoping if he does touch-ups in mac's room and the living room maybe tomorrow while we are at church that I can move furniture back to regular in those rooms and then pile up stuff from the kitchen and bath.
