Zoe: First rule of battle, little one. Don't ever let 'em know where you are. Mal: Whoo-hoo! I'm right here! I'm right here! You want some of me? Yeah, you do! Come on! Come on! Aaah! Whoo-hoo! Zoe: Of course, there are other schools of thought...

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I think I may have to tag this, despite the earworm.

If you keep the whitefonted bit, it's less earwormy. Not that it will help me, but I typed it, I deserve my brains dribbling out my ears.

I've really never had Drop In friends but I have had Call First and Then, Shortly After, Stop By friends and I miss those. Best here is P and, with kids, she's just way more structured. Means we hang at her place more. This is good as she has a better relationship with housekeeping and I don't mind playing with her kids.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

OK, new podium peeve:

Gum chewing? Really?

meara - Feb 17, 2010 8:07:33 pm PST #9084 of 30001

Gum chewing on the podium? Oh, that's bad. I was not having a problem with it at the opening ceremonies (though Kristin was), but on the podium??? Come ON people!

I am envious of yummy slow cooker meals. I got to the gate at LAX with about 15 minutes to spare for food...only to find that my options were Starbucks, Burger King, and the newsstand. I ended up buying a Vitamin Water, trail mix, and some knockoff Pirate Booty. It was not a satisfying meal. Ricotta on bread sounds delicious to me!!

I am quite an extrovert, so working from home, traveling (and thus not really talking to strangers, and being in hotel rooms at night) has done something of a number on me. It's weird.

The salads at the Wolfgang Puck thingie at SeaTac are not bad.

That said, I've never eaten well in an airport.

Though the bars tend to be full of awfully motts-y people watching.

I think if science cloned us, smashed us together and made two people again, we'd be good at your job from a psychological perspective. For me traveling is full of strangers and for you it's not enough people. We'd be a grand hybrid.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Movie quote of the night death match.

In this corner...

"I understand you have underwear up your ass right now, but it beats the hell out of a shattered skull. Think about it."

vs.

"To be what? Someone who takes photographs of lutefisk to PROVE the nothingness of being? No wonder our son's so confused!"

Our wings are not tired.

I just miss having people who could just come over and chill. Not for an event or dinner parties or whatnot. Just come by and kick back for a while.

Yep, this. Megan Walker is probably the closest thing I have to this, but even those visits have to be planned because of the whole living in different cities thing.

I would be completely cranky if I didn't get to hang with Sparky and gorgeous (and brainy and extremely mellow) little K, and then MFNLaw! They overlapped by about 15 minutes. I believe when I finally walked into the lobby of my hotel, it was 1 AM. And that was with MFN giving me a ride back to my hotel! Yeah, we obviously hated each other.

I've never heard the second quote, Hec, what's it from?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Leverage is ♥ tonight. Great way to wrap up a season and leave you hungry for more.

SO MUCH LOVE

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

LOVE!

Drugs have caused the headache to subside. I had a midnight snack pb&j with the SO, bless his sick heart, and he is now tucked in. Fire is going, Leverage has been watched (did I mention LOVE?), dog has been let out, in, and is sleeping. I am watching Slovakia play the Czech Republic (politics!). So the crank has receded for the nonce.

I am calling Slovakia for the gold, but odds are not on my side.
