What is up with these skating costumes? And these music choices?

Although I'm happy to see the Russians continuing the tradition of having one supremely elegantly dressed couple. But kids, don't pick skating music from such an iconic (infamous?) performance.

And I certainly hope the Grand Canyon Suite also being "inspired for the Canadian Rockies" is some crap that they fed the woman announcer and that she did not spout that on her own.

Heh. Kristin and Drew and I just watched the opening ceremonies (TiVo fastforwarded through large chunks) and the watch and post comments suddenly make sooo much more sense. Awesomeness. We had much fun making fun if it. And I had fun seeing them!

And I even found one of the two missing things at the bottom of my bag, when I got to my hotel. Sadly, the other thing was definitely left at home: my baggie of 3 oz containers. Guess I'll be hitting cvs tomorrow for some toothpaste and deodorant. Sigh.

It's a good thing I recognize the music used tonight since the announcers aren't bothering to say what it is at this point.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

watching pairs figure skating is far less interesting 1) without sound and 2) in snippets between calls so that i can't watch an entire program. I think i may give up and try to watch online later.

bought a set of pyrex mixing bowls and am so very excited. this is a lovely replacement for the scraped-up plastic ikea nesting bowls i've been using for over a decade.

I don't know, the announcers say so little during the performance, and the music was so uninteresting, I'm not sure it made much of a difference.

I was trying to think if nostalgia has colored the coverage of the games in my youth, but then I realized there were 25% fewer medal events back then so that may have had something to do with it feeling more complete.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

it was on all day long back in the day, wasn't it? That's what I am finding strange, I turn on NBC whenever i have some time thinking there will be some Olympics coverage, but there isn't.

Can you ID the music the last couple used for me, megan? It's just on the edge of my memory but I can't quite place it.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Happy Mardi Gras, y'all!

I really wish I was home right now.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Happy Mardi Gras!

I haven't been in my office since Wednesday. I am a little afraid of the paperwork that's been collecting, even before I get there.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I really have to get cracking on a couple of projects today. Things need to Get Done this week, and it's already Tuesday, and I'm leaving midday Thursday. Oops.

Also, I realized that I should not go see a friend's new baby empty-handed, so I have to remember to go shopping tomorrow!

It's Albinoni's "Adagio in G Minor", one of those sad adagios that seems to be used in everything, you might know it from Gallipoli. I actually have Ascot Man to thank for knowing the music--he was a composer and film critic and made mix tapes of film scores for me, including the adagio and Out of Africa music used last night. (This made be why I hated it.)
