Because books.

Accomplished so far today:

Good god! That's more than some people do in a week! You deserve a break, babe. And a big, big drink.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Next up is either scrubbing out the bathtub or defilthing the kitchen floor. Both sound so fun and tempting, I just can't decide.

I vote 'righteous rain to wash the scum off our streets'!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Good god! That's more than some people do in a week!

I don't know whether it was a downside or an upside of the playdate that I got so discontented and irritated with our own place. It was in an apartment not really much larger than ours, but infinitely better laid out (oh bowling alleys, how I hate you), plus the kid's dad is an artist and so everything just looked so interesting and balanced and appealing. If I can't redo everything here the way I want to, at least I can make sure the stuff that's here is clean.

You deserve a break, babe. And a big, big drink.

After David and Emmett get back from baseball practice.

Matilda's now up and mildly peeved that I ate all the Maui onion kettle chips, so we may have to go out for a bit. She wants me to wear her meerkat hat on the outing. Fortunately, we'll be going to Haight Street, where mom in a meerkat hat and toddler in a pirate dress (thank you, Amy!) will be merely mildly eccentric rather than Crazy Lady, Someone Call CPS!

Excellent! And hey, I think a pirate dress is in anywhere.

I hate the end of Pretty in Pink so fiercely. And yet I watch it every time.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Can somebody explain Google Buzz to me? Is it like Twitter? I've looked at the Google page that's supposed to explain it, and there's all kinds of stuff about how great it is, but nothing about what it actually does.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Has anyone used Ponoko? It strikes me as a weird tool in the kit of the crafty. But I can sort of imagine where it would come in useful. Custom designing tables and shit is no joke. Jilli could have batty everything. I haven't wrapped my head fully around the scope of their offering, but there seems to be a huge range of products generated.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Saw Grandma today, it was fun. Plus I got some grading done, which is good, and we went to Larchmont Larder, which was also good. mmm.

So Monday is DH's birthday. At his request, I'll be trying out a new recipe for his birthday cake, a little something called crack pie.

I'm hoping it lives up to its name, but I'm worried that it might be better known as heart disease pie. 8 egg yolks! Zoinks!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Has anyone used Ponoko?

No, but I'm fascinated by it. I've been trying to figure out something to make for months.
