Fortunately, we'll be going to Haight Street, where mom in a meerkat hat and toddler in a pirate dress (thank you, Amy!) will be merely mildly eccentric rather than Crazy Lady, Someone Call CPS!
Excellent! And hey, I think a pirate dress is in anywhere.
I hate the end of
Pretty in Pink
so fiercely. And yet I watch it every time.
Can somebody explain Google Buzz to me? Is it like Twitter? I've looked at the Google page that's supposed to explain it, and there's all kinds of stuff about how great it is, but nothing about what it actually does.
Has anyone used Ponoko? It strikes me as a weird tool in the kit of the crafty. But I can sort of imagine where it would come in useful. Custom designing tables and shit is no joke. Jilli could have batty everything. I haven't wrapped my head fully around the scope of their offering, but there seems to be a huge range of products generated.
Saw Grandma today, it was fun. Plus I got some grading done, which is good, and we went to Larchmont Larder, which was also good. mmm.
So Monday is DH's birthday. At his request, I'll be trying out a new recipe for his birthday cake, a little something called crack pie.
I'm hoping it lives up to its name, but I'm worried that it might be better known as heart disease pie. 8 egg yolks! Zoinks!
Has anyone used Ponoko?
No, but I'm fascinated by it. I've been trying to figure out something to make for months.
ita - yeah, he was raised in the US and is taking advantage of his dad being Jamaican to get to the olympics. It's rather common for athletes to take advantage of dual citizenship (or parentage) to get a better political bid.
(no judgement here, as a former athlete who qualified for US olympic team trials but could never ever have made the US team, if there had been even the teeniest hope of making the olympics via a different country, i would have jumped on it. Certain countries are so heavily represented that there is just no hope of making it.)
At least we know he's not keeping a born Jamaican out of a spot. I'm not in love with the practice, because representing a country in international competition is a big emotional deal, and I can't help but feel wonky about someone using it as a slot when they don't identify with that country.

I could trawl through their shop forever. The range boggles my mind. So many options of what to do.
So, I was sitting here after a long walk and some errands, and my door bell rang! (That is really not the right phrase, since the intercom makes this piercing noise, but whatever.) It was my friend I had vague plans with, who happened to be in the neighborhood, without her cell phone. So I hopped in the car, we drove out to the burbs and had our dinner-and-movie date. Perfect!
Flight delayed an hour. Mac and I in ATL.
Safe travels to you and mac, msbelle!
