Natter 65: Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Saw Grandma today, it was fun. Plus I got some grading done, which is good, and we went to Larchmont Larder, which was also good. mmm.
So Monday is DH's birthday. At his request, I'll be trying out a new recipe for his birthday cake, a little something called crack pie.
I'm hoping it lives up to its name, but I'm worried that it might be better known as heart disease pie. 8 egg yolks! Zoinks!
Has anyone used Ponoko?
No, but I'm fascinated by it. I've been trying to figure out something to make for months.
ita - yeah, he was raised in the US and is taking advantage of his dad being Jamaican to get to the olympics. It's rather common for athletes to take advantage of dual citizenship (or parentage) to get a better political bid.
(no judgement here, as a former athlete who qualified for US olympic team trials but could never ever have made the US team, if there had been even the teeniest hope of making the olympics via a different country, i would have jumped on it. Certain countries are so heavily represented that there is just no hope of making it.)
At least we know he's not keeping a born Jamaican out of a spot. I'm not in love with the practice, because representing a country in international competition is a big emotional deal, and I can't help but feel wonky about someone using it as a slot when they don't identify with that country.

I could trawl through their shop forever. The range boggles my mind. So many options of what to do.
So, I was sitting here after a long walk and some errands, and my door bell rang! (That is really not the right phrase, since the intercom makes this piercing noise, but whatever.) It was my friend I had vague plans with, who happened to be in the neighborhood, without her cell phone. So I hopped in the car, we drove out to the burbs and had our dinner-and-movie date. Perfect!
Flight delayed an hour. Mac and I in ATL.
Safe travels to you and mac, msbelle!
So what % of people, when considering moving to a particular apartment, would google the address before signing a lease?
I find it disturbing that if you google my last address (even without 'Chicago' at the end) you get this: [link] Note the #2 search result.
(The link goes to a site where you can report and search for bedbug cases at specific addresses. For my address there were two or three tenant complaints of bedbugs, with a response from the management co. The dates on the posts are around the time I moved out (end of Aug, '09).)
I googled my current address after signing the lease, but before moving in. No bug reports!
In the waiting area, there is a toddler throwing up in a stroller. The parent has said she has no clothes to change her. Feel bad for the seatmates.
