And don't you ever stand for that sort of thing. Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back! ... You got the right same as anyone to live and try to kill people.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Nobody's exulting with me.

I was gonna! Then I got distracted by a Javascript DOM issue. Which I figured out.

I'm going to get an engraved champagne flute (in addition to the plain one I toasted with this morning) to commemorate the sale.

That's more useful than the gifts I've received. One was a sorta' hourglass, except all the sand falls though at once (it falls though a filter thing that spells out our client's name) and another is a clear plastic or Pyrex thingie that has a sample of crude oil embedded in it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I will exult! Even in my dungarees and grody sweatshirt. Because I have no place fancy to go.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee. I once got a nice clock set in excitingly chunky lucite during a company buyout. I tried to explain to them that I was a temp and was totally uninvested in the transition and did not need bribing. But they were in their "no, we value all employees phase" so I got it anyway. I shrugged and finished the week`s pile of data entry I was hired for and then left. It was a pretty clock.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Then I got distracted by a Javascript DOM issue. Which I figured out.

So you're the SUB?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I hate all corporate gifts. I do not want things with company logos on them.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I am exulting with you! I am currently the anti-you because I am 3 days behind, so that may be damping my exultation, but nevertheless, I am exulting.

Nuh-uh. The Javascript is my bitch.

eta: Also, the DOM was a red-herring. The stored proc was returning incorrect XML.

I've got space telescope pieces.

Today was a day. Tomorrow will be even more so. Also, New Girl is waaaaay too friendly and oversharey for my tastes. I always feel like I'm being mean to her because I am very firm in my boundaries.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Exult! Exult!

I do not want things with company logos on them.

I prefer things with logos that are not *my* company--as a reseller we got logos of companies we resold--I still tote Compaq and Oracle stuff around with me years later.

But I still use the travel mug from my first CA job here--it felt a bit awkward at first, like my allegiances were screwy, but why buy another one?

My MI job put its logo on everything. I wonder if Colin still has the beach towel I gave him. I just knew I was never using it in public. And not much private need for a beach towel. I have pens, a really high quality leather backpack that I do carry because it's embossed and not obvious, a lovely Land's End shirt that I don't wear and can't dispose of...random crap.

Company we were yesterday, though, apparently gave the most stuff out I've ever seen. They're making an effort to de-brand, but they'll never clear everyone's desks off.

I was most sad when the corporate benches disappeared. I loved those things.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My company is big on branding everything, but the anniversary gifts are pretty good. For my 5-year I got one of those cool green banker's lamps, and for my 10-year I got a small telescope. Neither of which are branded.
