I have to say, I'm not sure what anyone means by this. Is there some other question (other than why?) that needs answering? Because I don't think he's ever going to answer that question. Gus/Guy Straley was a lying lair who lies, and he continues to be one (apparently).

I pretty much figure it was started as a lark, went on way too long, and the pseudicide was an attempt to end it as "harmlessly" as possible. Didn't work out that way. As far as I'm concerned, that's the best explanation I'll ever get. It doesn't absolve him, nor does it get him out of a big ol' can of punchtotheface, in my book. But it also means I don't have presume malice on the part of somebody I've never met, which would require more emotional investment from me than I'm prepared to put into it.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

We should ALL ask for a connection to him on LinkedIn. Has anyone searched Facebook?

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Um. Holy shit. I don't think this was linked before. Googling for Gus Raley quickly got me this comment:

Feb 7, 23:15 by Gus Raley An extensive collection of speculative fiction tropes is available among the other 5000 or so tropes cataloged by the TV Tropes fanatics. Worth a peek.

The article is from Feb. 2007. [link]

information libertarian

At some point, I assumed Gus drinks a fair amount. Holds it well, but tends to post & ramble.

Okay, I've read the last 500 posts now. I've always been fascinated by Gus - I guess because I never had an inkling that he was a fake and this is a board where we mostly know each other.

I would *so* love for TAL to do a story on this. It's exactly the sort of weird story they do. On that note, if anyone does go looking for Gus in Cameron or Eau Claire, take a tape recorder!

To me, I just want to know who Gus was. I *know* he's a liar, but I want to know who was the person typing at the keyboard and what was their motivation behind it all. Again, perfect TAL story, I think.

But seriously, does anybody else remember Gus saying he had MS? That's the part of the io9 article that's eating at me right now (aside from the link back to us).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It's snaining down big yucky slushy flakes by my office. DO NOT WANT.

In defense of the anti-proliferationista movement, it made a LOT more sense to be anti-Natter back when BtVS was still on the air.

B'crazy started on WX as the TT Status thread. Then it got Nattery and someone created Natter to keep B'crazy bueauracalicious. Then when TT came back online BHP started the first "real" Natter thread over there and most of us grudgingly admitted we liked it.

I thought he had some weird monkey bite disease. MS doesn't ring any bells.
