information libertarian

I've had AA t-shirts only for kids, and they've been durable and true to size, both the regular jersey and the baby rib (for girls, and meant to be snugger). I got them as gifts, and can't bring myself to buy more, though.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A Beautiful Camel Bladder Vase

Probably the nicest one you will see all day. This one, from Moultan, Pakistan, was crafted in the mid-19th century and currently resides in the collections of the Museum of Leathercraft in Northampton, U.K.

Of note, the “camel bladder” term refers not to the shape, but to the material from which it was made. Animal bladders have traditionally been used for fashioning drinking flasks, enema bags, and other liquid-containing vessels. A dried, tanned, but unmoulded and unpainted one is depicted here.

I bet the lions thought it was the Best Toy Ever, and for years and years they're going to reminisce about it.

Like when you find a $20 in a coat pocket, or find a candy bar stashed away that you didn't know you had but oh my god you really needed chocolate and it was like magic that it appeared?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think it's a shame the lions weren't allowed to eat the deer since it had to be euthanized anyway. (I mean, I get that zoo animals are on a highly regulated diet and lord knows what kinds of diseases the Rock Creek Park deer population carries, but it still seems kind of mean not to let them enjoy the spoils of their only hunt EVER.)

Most of our corporate t-shirts are American Apparel and they fall apart the second time you wash them.

Hm. They do have a lot of different fabrics for wholesale, so maybe that's the difference? Because my Glarkware shirts are all AA, and I think the Venture Bros. shirts were as well. And they've all held up so far.

And happy birthday, Jessica! I'm too tired to think of a clever wish, but: may your t-shirts never wear out.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy birthday, Jessimoon!

It was very beautiful at Ocean Beach yesterday, though the only evidence of it being November was the weak autumnal light. It was warm enough that Matilda could run barefoot through the cold Pacific surf.

Does anyone here drink raw milk? One of the vendors at the farmers' market yesterday mentioned that they do herdshares for people who want raw milk. (And I bought the most amazing fresh sour cream from them, made from milk from their Jersey cows. Oh god. I can never buy mass-produced sour cream again.)

I've toyed with getting a herdshare for raw milk, but I can't seem to pull the trigger.
